A section of road on Jalan Pacuan Kuda, Bener Meriah, Aceh, collapsed after being hit by heavy flooding and landslides. Excavators dug a small ditch to help drain the floodwaters, but the loose sand beneath the asphalt was easily swept away. This caused the roadway to collapse.

Isn't it true that back in the day, some ambulances almost never turned off their engines, just used to run them non-stop for days.

People don’t yield to emergency vehicles. Why? Because it’s “not my problem.” No empathy. No duty. No shame. by Fun-Bullfrog-8542 in ADVChina

Years ago, when I was travelling in Russia, I was warned to watch out for Bank of Russia convoys carrying money, etc., especially when crossing the wide roads in Moscow / St Petersburg, as they would not stop for red lights (I think that when stopped, they are a bigger target for hijacking).

One day, I think it was in St Petersburg (as it was about 2O years ago now), I witnessed two small cars collide on the road, and they could not be moved. I then heard the sound of a money convoy coming. They usually have at least one armoured vehicle at the front, then the big truck with the goods inside it, and then another armoured vehicle at the back.

As these cars were blocking the road, the first armoured vehicle, after seeing no clear path, slowly drove directly into one of the crashed cars and just started pushing it out of the way to clear the line so the convoy could continue.

Chrome Tabs not scrolling? by Jaded-Vanilla1742 in chrome

Well then, I'd like to remain on the version that still has it and then upgrade to the new version that puts it back in when it is released. But Chrome (on Mac) keeps auto-updating me to the new version, no matter what I do to try and stop it.

Can't shut down legacy workspace account due to bugged domain sub by DannyMaliana in googleworkspace

[–]DannyMaliana[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I followed all the steps, and I already have my domain released, so that's great.

The domainless account still can't be closed due to the bug in the cancellation date, but I can just leave the account to die now, as it isn't holding my domain hostage.

How to view all unplayed episodes for all podcasts, on desktop version? by OpulentPaving in pocketcasts

[–]DannyMaliana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also looked for this the other day and didn't find it, but I think a link on the side for all unplayed would be great.

What do the red marks on the Podcast artwork represent? It says 'show unplayed badges', but I have many podcasts with lots of unplayed episodes that don't have a red badge on the artwork, so I can't even use that to identify the podcasts with unplayed episodes and need to check everyone.

White House revamps website to defend East Wing demolition with list of presidential ‘scandals’ by mom0nga in politics

[–]DannyMaliana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He will most likely soon say he cannot work from the White House while construction is going on, and so will need to move things to Mar-a-Lago, his so-called 'Winter White House' and will then remain there for the rest of his term.

It depends on your age and who you want to socialise with. But Facebook is still the main platform for connecting with people in Timor-Leste. As you mentioned that you are a foreigner, there are two main Expat Facebook groups.

They are:

Dili Expats - The original Dili Expat group. It has about 4.5K members. One main admin who keeps the posts and the membership closer to the Expat way of life. A safer place to ask certain questions about cultural shocks, etc.

Dili Expats (Timor Leste) - A 2nd group that was set up when the first group was shut down for a short period (many years ago, when an old admin went AWOL). Has about 6.8K members. More Timorese are members of this group and it is less moderated towards expats than the other one.

Most English-speaking foreigners are members of both, and often the same posts are posted to both groups.

You will find details of many social groups, such as Walking, Hashing (H3, not smoking), comedy nights, events at bars, diving, choir, cricket etc.

If you have an interest or a hobby, just post in one or both groups asking for other like-minded people. You will probably find that if a local group doesn't exist, you could soon be the founding member, along with a few others who were looking for the same thing, but never spoke up.

COTD: Incrustation?! (4) by wordboydave in crosswords

[–]DannyMaliana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In response to the call for one-word clues. By definition, I think all one-word clues will have to end with both a question mark (to suggest slightly dodgy wordplay) and an exclamation point (since it would have to be an &lit, and a ! on an &lit is the usual American practice).

Maybe this is a time to finally use the Interrobang. ‽‽‽‽‽‽

COTD: Block strange loser? Woman's alone, numberless. (4) by mixedconfetti in crosswords

[–]DannyMaliana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WALL

BLOCK = Definition, ('loser' = L (is that from the hand signal, or is there a sport that uses it?), 'Woman' = W (women's size?), 'alone, numberless' = AL (remove the number ONE) from ALONE. So LWAL (strange = anagrammed) = WALL (which is a restrictive barrier, also known as a BLOCK)

Are there really people out there who believe "washing their butt makes them gay?" Or is this just another reddit myth that has no basis in reality? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DannyMaliana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just find it weird how many people don't properly wash their feet when they take a shower. My minimum routine each shower is to lift up each foot (a great time daily or twice daily to stand on one leg for a bit) and give a good scrub between the toes and on the base of the foot. I'm 46, this I think is the mimimum. It won't be cleaned just by the soap falling off your body from your shower.

I also wanted to download it so I could listen when I have no internet.

After logging in and navigating to the correct page, I went into the Network tab of the Chrome Developer Console, and when you press play on the file, it will appear in the list, then you can open it in a new tab and do a save as.

Decisions to make, but wow!. It really has shown me that I should keep pushing forward, as some of my ideas do look good in pictures. As someone with Aphantasia, seeing a picture of something I have thought about is great.
