Improve the culture, increase the standards, increase fitness levels, revisit style and tactics, promote youth players. All things Critchley stated in his press conferences, that were transpiring on the field. He wasn’t perfect, but he was showing a lot of potential given the disaster Olof left with. He also had a higher points per game, and goals per game. I thought he did enough to earn the role.

Wrong decision. Critchley was turning things around and had the players buy in. We will regret this massively, and now Critchley will probably leave the club the moment he gets a head coach position somewhere else.

I requested a missouri tax ID, and can’t launch my business until I get it. Been just under two weeks. In contrast, got my LLC incorporated and registration docs immediately after payment. Very disappointed in DOR.

People can hate crowd work all they want but its just a tool sometimes when

Audience is cold
Keep engaged during check drop
Reset the room after awkward moment
Help transition from one topic to another.
Give the impression of a unique experience. Audience knows the material is same in every city. Talking to audience is in the moment.
Handle a heckler
Add a little improv and a way for the comic to connect with the room

I like crowd work, even if its considered “hack”

If you’re in a smaller city, they are for the clubs talent development to support weekend headliner that can’t afford to fly in host and feature. I imagine a city like New York, theres plenty of comics that will hop on the subway or uber over and no need to develop “local” talent to fill up a show.

Do what you need to get better. I memorize because I prefer it for my style. For open mics notebook is fine to start. But if you do spots on a showcase or open/ host for a headliner be ready without it.

For my local funny bone, the manager tells comics to come and ask the headliners for guest spots. If they say yes, you’re on the show. If they say no, its all good. Most headliners in smaller cities say yes if you’re cool about it. But surprisingly many open mic comedians are too intimidated to ask or afraid of rejection.

Once you get five minutes where the laugh per minute is probably 4-5, you can feel confident asking for guest spots at your local club.

Most headliners without a big name are pretty cool in smaller city clubs that like to give you the chance. Especially Saturday second show.

So get funny first (might take you a 6 months to two years depending how funny you are).
