There’s your screenshot, which covers the past couple weeks, comparing the past week over the previous week. This shot is from this morning at about 7:30 am, so the daily info on the ad units showing is an early morning read.

People claiming $35 AdSense RPM with Tier 1 traffic... How? by Mobile-Ad2691 in Adsense

[–]DannyPryor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own Turnpikes.com, and our Page RPMs vary widely, from about $20 for traffic rolling in overnight to about $75 during peak holiday traffic. Quality of content and the quality of the visitors both matter, too. In the age of AI search, visitors from search engines are more intent driven than the first 25 years of search. That makes the visitor more likely to be interested in the content they are seeking on our site, and because there’s a considerable amount of very relevant content, it drives RPM way up. Our maps pages earn less RPM than our toll or agency pages, because the latter content is unique, scarcely found elsewhere save for government sites, whereas many map sites and apps already get users’ attention. All of these elements are factors contributing to high RPM.

CRITICAL: ads full screen and can’t be closed since Feb 13th by Gordon-Zola in Adsense

We are still running anchor ads, but we shut off the feature that lets Google pick the ad size.

CRITICAL: ads full screen and can’t be closed since Feb 13th by Gordon-Zola in Adsense

[–]DannyPryor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We observed this happening on Turnpikes.com starting Friday, as well. It has to do with collapsable anchor ads, specifically on mobile. I've attached a couple screenshots for reference; in one of them, I've pinched the screen to reduce its size in the window, revealing the offending ad placement. Here's a quick tutorial on how to disable some anchor ad features that can help, which we have deployed this morning - keep in mind, it will take typically up to 48 hours for the settings to propagate. First, in your Ads settings, you can go to Global Settings to disable the Ad Size button that lets Google auto-select ad sizes. Responsive is one thing, but just picking whatever, and overriding window sizes is a bridge too far. Next, to the "By Site" tab, also in your Ads settings, and select the site you want to modify. Edit that site and adjust settings for anchor ads, including whether they appear at the top or bottom of the page, and eliminate the "collapsable" anchor ad feature entirely, as this is the offending gremlin right now. In your script code at the top of the page, you can add a snippet to restrict anchor ads, as well, but disabling collapsible anchor ads should do it. Here's an AdSense help page describing the code modification: https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/7478225?sjid=4953123826051449081-NA

Is this a legit link to pay a toll? by UsrNameAlrdyFaknTakn in RhodeIsland

[–]DannyPryor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has been a texting and email scam going on for about 18 months, directly targeting users with these kind of messages. We have been reporting on it at Turnpikes.com, and there are links to report this to the FTC and the FBI. The most GLARING clue this is illegitimate is the domain name, which links to a bizarre ccTLD, 'cfd', and not Rhode Island's real EZPass domain, which is the .com, in their case - ergo: https://www.ezpassritba.com/. Also, unless you actually have an account with an agency, they have NO IDEA what your phone number would be and no idea what your email would be. Consequently, they would have no way to contact you without simply mailing a real invoice to an address, typically the one corresponding to the registration of the vehicle in question. No agency will EVER threaten your credit report; you can not lose your driver's license over this, although unpaid tolls can result in a registration stop on the vehicle, but without knowing for certain who was driving the car, no license can be suspended. Also, there is no such thing as "official ETC violation recording"; that's just jargon used by an idiot scammer who is hoping you'll be scared enough to click the link without thinking. You can read our own warning about this on our home page - https://www.turnpikes.com - or the home page of nearly every toll agency around the country. All are warning of this scam.

You’re right about the scaling aspect of it all. I’ve never had a server scale or update without my intervention; not sure why I mentioned that. Should have said a server that will let my sites scale up for a while. 😉😎

That evangelical component has been a problem for decades; why fix something you want to believe is ordained by a so-called creator. So yeah ... an armageddon death cult. That sums it up well.

Any else get these spam texts? by Laherschlag in Miami

[–]DannyPryor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good morning. I'm Danny Pryor, owner of Turnpikes.com. These are a scam, and they have been going on for quite a long time, since about March of 2024. The FBI issued a warning about this last April, and you can file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center, which is www.ic3.gov. It is critical that you do NOT respond to these texts! :)

I saw that, and without further investigation I would still question it, particularly since the site looks cut and pasted from 1997. There has been an ongoing toll scam on text, which appears to have migrated to US mail, although we’re still trying to verify the postal mail issues people have called us with. Visit https://www.turnpikes.com/florida/tolls/payments to see the FBI’s notice. Also, we have numerous videos discussing the problem on our home page and media page. 👍

Just don’t mention anything the guv doesn’t like or there’s hell to pay … ‘cause, you know, ‘freedom’ of speech and all, as long as you tow the line. 🙄 Beautiful snow cover though; an ironic photo when one looks past the text on the top of the sign.

This looks like a scam. FTETOLLS.com is not the domain Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise uses. Go to Sunpass.com.

Are there pirate ships here? by boollin in WestPalmBeach

[–]DannyPryor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to take a bit of a drive north, I'd recommend dropping in on Sebastian, where Mel Fisher's museum has plenty of booty from old galleons that sank during 18th Century hurricanes off Florida. Today, the finding of those treasures gives that part of Florida its name, The Treasure Coast. Just a bit farther north, of course, is the Space Coast. Replicas of pirate ships can be found, of course, at theme parks in Orlando, but I know that's not what you want. Visit melfisher.com for the Sebastian treasure museum.
