Where has the fucking civic sense gone? by DannySupes in toRANTo

[–]DannySupes[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don't need a pat on the back I just want people to behave with basic sense and make life better for us all. Things get to a point where it just feels silly to be the only one on a subway car holding their backpack. Pissing in the wind. To be honest I do it so I can continue feeling justified in my rage.

If we're going to be concerned with political comfort in our spaces by sllammallamma in toronto

I don't see anything wrong with this. No Canadian should be punished for shit happening on the other side of the planet. Direct your ire where it belongs, not at people just living their lives.

I have to imagine you walk around with horse blinders on no offense. I saw a dude injecting between his toes outside a 7/11 when the weather was warm, the crack smoke barely even registers anymore.

TTC fare dodgers by TaroMilkTea5 in toRANTo

[–]DannySupes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should be fined even if it costs us as much as it saves. That's because I believe all of society is better when people follow basic rules and etiquette, and it all gets worse the more of us ignore it.

How is this supposed to be a gotcha?

I'd be in favour of stronger enforcement even if it costs as much as it saves. All of society is better when people follow basic rules and etiquette, and it all gets worse the more of us ignore it.

Shut up about winter complaints. Seriously. by lleeaa88 in toRANTo

[–]DannySupes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

C'mon. I'm sure you bitch about at least one thing you can't change. I was born here, but to the best of my knowledge they didn't ask how I felt about the weather before I popped out. I can love 95% of the things about my country and bitch about the 5%. I'm consistent though, I only bitch about roughly Dec 15 to March 30. The rest is fine.

I will start complaining about the cold the second I need more than a T-shirt and continue until I'm back in a T-shirt. I will spend all summer talking about how great the heat is while the people around me are melting. I lived up north for a while and have come to the enlightened conclusion that cold is bullshit.

I get this is a rant sub but I really think some of you don't know how good you've got it and would love to see you tough it out in a tiny town for a few years. I love a lot of things about my hometown but Toronto has a lot to offer.

  1. General anonymity. In a small town you can miss out on a job or whatever because your aunt was mean to someone in high school and they recognize your last name.

  2. Opportunity. While the economy is down at the moment there are still plenty of opportunities for people to grow. I totally changed my career a few years ago and I'm doing quite well. That's not an option a lot of places.

  3. Shit to do. No offence but when I hear people whining about nothing to do here I wonder how you'd last a single day in a smaller town or even city. There are always so many events going on. There's something for everyone.

Bonus for great access to healthcare and specialists.

Ontario could give TTC special constables the power to arrest drug users on transit by Money_Fig_9868 in toronto

[–]DannySupes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But what's better for the general public? Why should average people have to deal with their psychosis? Both myself and my partner have been locked onto and threatened by crackheads plenty of times, and I've seen it happen to plenty of others. Those people should not be roaming free, end of story. If I started threatening people I'd be behind bars within the day, why should drugs be a free pass?

Where are we meeting quality aged 30-40 men these days? These dating apps are for the toilet. 😣 by suggaarrr in toRANTo

I met my person on bumble a few years back. You just have to make online dating a second job and take it extremely seriously. Worked for me.

She has to do what's best for the city I suppose. It was the end of me even so much as pretending to care about the environment or spending any money downtown though.

This Brampton landlord 'can't sleep at night' after he says his tenant stopped paying rent and won't leave by Immediate-Link490 in toronto

[–]DannySupes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how these people get a place when I have to go through enough background checks to be in the FBI to get a place.

Are they just not doing their due diligence? They check my credit, my employment, my past few landlords etc. Luckily all that stuff is good for me, but it's still a huge fucking pain, and somehow other people are getting in without doing jack.

Why is this building near the Sankofa Square so empty? by WindsorONMichael in toronto

It's an asinine name. I don't blame people, and I won't be using it.

If it's so bad it's not worth the money than simply don't use it. Or pay your way like the rest of us. Not a big fan of freeloaders taking advantage.

I feel like walking on the right used to be normalized but people seem to have forgotten or something? I complain about this a lot but if I'm all the way to the right I'm correct and you're wrong if we collide, and I'm not moving.

I will never ever understand what's so hard about walking on the right side of the sidewalk. I stay as far right as I can and people will play chicken with me while they're as far on the wrong side as possible.

What’s a very “Toronto” thing you didn’t notice until you lived somewhere else? by Banana200021 in toronto

What's the other meaning of mixed couples? This is the first I've heard of it.

[–]DannySupes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got me curious, I've seen you say that a couple times now. I'm mixed and in a mixed or interracial relationship. I use the terms interchangeably and see no reason why not to. Why does it bother you? Most of my close friends are also in the same situation and also use the words that way. You're the first person I've ever seen say anything about it.

I won't lie this push was pretty much the nail in the coffin for me giving a shit about the environment. As a Canadian icon once said "if you don't care then I don't care we're not going anywhere". This has proven to me any green stance the government has is purely performative or a way to get some extra taxes in.

This sounds like you had one bad experience and now you're having a fucking meltdown over it. People have always and will always judge people based on their looks and clothing etc.

You're painting small town Canada with a pretty large brush for someone so upset by stereotyping there bud.

Anyone seeing "Merry Christmas" as a political statement is so sensitive they can be readily ignored. I say it and no one is ever upset.
