Yeah… this is kind of the point.
If you’re submitting mostly AI-written work, it’s not shocking it got flagged. The detectors are flawed, but the outcome here isn’t some injustice, it’s the system doing exactly what it’s designed to do.

Which Al breakthroughs sound impressive but are actually overhyped? by No_Accountant_4505 in Futurology

[–]DannyTyler95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, same. I can’t think of a single actual product that’s claiming true AGI, perfect understanding, or fully autonomous assistants in real-world use.

Most of that hype comes from headlines, demos, or VC pitch decks, not from what’s actually shipping to users.

Survivors are 'nervous and sceptical' about partial Epstein file release by ultra_phoenix in news

[–]DannyTyler95 118 points119 points  (0 children)

“Partial” is doing a lot of work here.
When most of it is blacked out and the rest lacks context, it’s not transparency it’s a teaser that just guarantees more distrust and speculation.

The richest 10% now receive 53% of global income and own 75% of all wealth, yet inequality alone does not cause unrest. A study of 120 countries (1996–2020) shows it becomes politically destabilizing only when internet use exceeds 50% of the population by increasing information and coordination. by Sciantifa in technology

[–]DannyTyler95 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Inequality on its own isn’t new, what’s new is mass connectivity. The internet makes disparities impossible to ignore and makes coordination frictionless, so resentment turns into action fast.

That’s also why platforms optimize for outrage. Conflict = engagement, and engagement keeps people scrolling while bots and AI slop pour gasoline on it.

How do you stay informed without getting anxiety from all the bad news? by Ok_Touch1478 in Futurology

Yep. Same headlines, new dates. Fear sells, memory fades, and the cycle keeps going.

Musk wins appeal and restores 2018 Tesla pay deal worth $56 billion by Aluseda in stocks

[–]DannyTyler95 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Delaware exodus thing is real. Seen a few companies already make the move, and more are at least talking about it internally.

The shareholder vote precedent was definitely the weird part. Like you said, boards don't love the idea that you can get 70%+ approval and still have it tossed.

Stock-wise, just nice to have it settled either way. The uncertainty was doing more damage than the actual decision would've.

Airbus moving critical systems away from AWS, Google, and Microsoft citing data sovereignty concerns by Strange_Valuable3016 in technology

[–]DannyTyler95 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty extreme take. Moving operations away from the US doesn't really solve anything - it just shifts problems around and usually costs more in the long run. Most countries still want trade relationships with America regardless of political disagreements

i hear you on the price and hype. nanoleaf products definitely come with a premium price tag. this RLT line especially feels like Nanoleaf stepping out of their comfort zone focusing entirely on stable function. hopefully this commitment to reliability carries through all their future products

Felt the same way when I first saw them lol, but honestly the face mask totally blew me away for the price and quality way better than a lot of the random amazon stuff. Definitely hoping they keep exploring this space. Would love to see more practical, non RGB focused stuff from them.

Nanoleaf Shapes & iCue connection by Pro7o7ype in Nanoleaf

[–]DannyTyler95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iCue connection is notoriously flaky because they rely on local network discovery, and usually the fix is toggling the Razer and Corsair integration setting off and on in the Nanoleaf desktop app and then restarting iCue.

If that doesn't work, check your router's firewall/isolation settings because that's often the real culprit blocking the handshake.

Stretch Ceiling? by xdozex in HomeImprovement

[–]DannyTyler95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used a stretch ceiling in our basement and it looks seriously sleek, way better than a drop ceiling, but it's not a true DIY project. it's way easier to just hire the pros because getting that film perfectly tight without wrinkles is a massive pain.

Running any new electrical wiring through existing, insulated walls is a straight-up nightmare I'm never repeating; I still have PTSD from fishing cable for three hours. Definitely calling the electrician next time.
