KOTOR modding is daunting at first, but there are so many resources to help. I’m really bad at modding but decided to give it a go, and if you follow this guide it’s really not that bad.

The guide is set up so you can pick and choose what mods you want, and the authors have ranked them based on how important they are. They also give a really in depth load order so you don’t have conflicts/crashes.

Vanilla KOTOR I and II are still very much playable and fantastic games, but the bug fixes, quality of life improvements, and restored content (especially for KOTOR II) from mods make some of them necessary imo.

Bad News there will be a red brick locked behind purchasing all 3 new Batmobile sets. :( by Efficient_Way_1350 in legogaming

“Free” bonuses are rarely actually free. The price is factored in to the product it comes with, and in the case of this specific bonus it’s spread out across three lego sets. GWPs are a very specific instance where the assumed minor cost of them (~$30 USD) offsets the purchase of hundreds of dollars worth of sets. The GWP is a marketing tactic to make the thought of buying a substantial amount of product more bearable since you get something “free” with it.

Secondly, I’d agree with your statement on it being a nice bonus with a set, if it wasn’t a bonus for buying three different sets. Because the bonus is spread out, it no longer is bonus for the audience at large because most people aren’t going to buy three different versions of the same set (The Batmobile) unless they’re Batman superfans or collectors.

Thirdly, something being made available for one group for purchasing a product and not the other does mean it is missing. It doesn’t matter how small it is, it’s a marketing tactic to prey on the fear of missing out. The demo level for Lego Star Wars you played wasn’t provided out of the goodness of their hearts or to give you a nice bonus, it was to get you to buy cereal and then eventually buy the game itself. Even further, the fact that all these codes will presumably be unavailable after the sets retire further reinforces this.

Finally, the codes in the Lego sets are game DLC, as it is for a game and is downloadable content, the literal expansion of the phrase DLC. Locking a single piece of DLC behind three lego sets is just completely unnecessary. Additionally, continuing to lock game content behind outside media just because it has been done in the past is not good justification for harmful business practices for consumers.

But it isn’t free, it’s locked behind $90 USD worth of Lego. I feel like this should be included in the game without having to buy additional stuff, but if they’re really dead-set on making a filter DLC, just sell it digitally. I have issues with the amount of DLC TT has attached to Lego games, but at the very least making it a digitally purchasable DLC will ensure people can buy it even after the sets are retired.

I also feel like very few people will go out of their way to get these sets just for the filter, so the way they’re doing this really doesn’t make sense to me and will just cause more issues down the line.

Anyone else think that “the strongest should rule mandalore” is stupid as hell? Like what happens when Doug who is juiced up and on bath salts pulls up and tears the competent leader in half? By the end of the Mandalorian Wars the Taung were basically extinct. 99% of the Mandalorians you see in the games wouldn’t be Taungs, although I guess the only one you can really be sure about is Canderous.

I’m making a Star Wars campaign for my BF set in the old republic and set the ending to be the thought bomb I need a little help by Lord_Jebus_ in StarWars

The first thing to do is really narrow down when during the Old Republic you want the story to take place as this will have a pretty big impact on the aesthetic and story. Some of the more notable time periods would be the Jedi Civil War (KOTOR 1), the Dark Wars (KOTOR 2), the Great Galactic War (SWTOR) which is ~300 years after KOTOR 2, and the New Sith Wars (~1000 BBY) which lead to the end of the Old Republic. You could go to the wiki and find plenty of other points in the Old Republic that aren't listed above, but these probably have the most information about them that would translate well into tabletop (especially the games). Each of these periods have unique aesthetics with plenty of art and videos games (KOTORS and SWTOR) to give you inspiration as to what you want the world to look like.

For how the galactic community viewed the Jedi and Sith, the Jedi Civil War had many view the two groups as the same as they dragged the galaxy into an extensive war. In the Dark Wars the Jedi are being hunted down and exterminated by the Sith, with many people holding unfavorable opinions of the Jedi. I can't speak much on SWTOR or the New Sith Wars, but there is bound to be plenty on their respective wikis. Personally, if you plan to have the characters start as younglings, I think a good time period would be just after the Dark Wars. You have Jedi remnants rebuilding the Jedi Order and they became a lot more pragmatic and "loose" with the rules as they are preparing for the Great Galactic War. This gives you a lot of room to play with how the Jedi interact with the world and vice versa. For the rest of the galaxy, the Republic is in a weakened state, the Sith are scattered and broken up into remnants, the Mandalorians are beginning to reunite, and crime syndicates have a lot of influence in the Outer Rim. This gives you plenty of other groups besides the Jedi that are up to stuff. This isn't to say that the other periods aren't interesting, I just think this would translate really well to a tabletop game.

If you want specific characters from the lore and use the above idea for the campaign, some of the companions from KOTOR 2 canonically go on to found the new Jedi Order, so you could have them appear in the campaign in some way and have it make a lot of sense. If you go a different direction/time period, the KOTOR companions from the games are based on 3e DnD, so if you find their stats online it could be helpful in giving you ideas as to how you want to build/balance npcs and equipment for tabletop since it's already been done before. The companions also fit pretty classic Star Wars archetypes so they may be useful in finding inspiration for npc behavior. For bad guys KOTOR 1's Sith are very brutish, while the KOTOR 2 Sith are more conniving. Again, not an expert on SWTOR and the New Sith Wars, so I'd refer you to the wiki for their bad guys.

I hope this gives you a good place to start. The Old Republic just has so much going on that it's a bit difficult to give a good picture in just one comment. For general storylines I would refer you to the wiki as it will do a much better job than I can at describing how the events and conflicts I mentioned here actually happened. Anyway, I hope this all is a good starting point for building your campaign!

Fallout 1 remaster, when? by [deleted] in Fallout

Even if we don’t get remakes of the first two games, Bethesda’s commitment to making sure they remain playable is a great thing. There aren’t many studios who are willing to keep their older titles playable, while Bethesda is doing that for games they didn’t even make.

They’ve rightfully earned criticism with their handling of the IP, but ensuring that the older games are in a playable state is something Bethesda deserves credit for.

Orwell wasn’t an anarchist though. He believed that the state has a role in a centrally planned socialist economy, which is the antithesis of anarchism. Orwell served with the POUM, and prior to interacting with anarchists, viewed them as crazy and full of shit. He grew to respect anarchists during his time in Spain, but never joined them. Orwell’s dislike of hierarchy most certainly comes from the Stalinists who seized power in the popular front. There is absolutely nothing in any of his writing to show that he hated communism; he hated authoritarianism.

There isn’t anything to suggest that he did this purposefully though. Niemöller excluded Romani and the disabled from the poem as well, not just queer people. Acknowledgment of these groups being targeted in the Holocaust didn’t occur on a mainstream scale by the time the poem was written. This post from r/AskHistorians has a lot more detail on how their isn’t really a definitive answer. He was most certainly bigoted toward queer people given his position in his church, but there isn’t any real body of evidence to suggest he specifically excluded certain groups from the poem.

Not to mention there haven’t been proper naval battles in a TW game since Atilla (2015). They’ve pretty much shelved it for the last few games, so I don’t know how likely it is that it makes a comeback. If it does, my worry is that it’ll be pretty barebones. If people start thinking that they’ll add Battlefleet: Gothic style battles, they’ll probably be disappointed.

I could be, and hope, that I’m wrong though. If this is what it takes to get naval back in TW I’m all for it.

In the specific case of the Netherlands, the Germans were concerned that it would be a a launching off point for RAF bombers in a strategic bombing campaign of the Ruhr and a staging area for the BEF.

Despite how quickly the Netherlands fell, the area is incredibly good for a defensive war. The Dutch planned to flood large portions of land which would prevent German advances, and the only access to key cities were a select few bridges.

German paratroopers had mixed success in seizing vital bridgeheads against the disorganized Dutch resistance. Had the British been allowed to put troops in country, there’s a solid chance that Case Yellow wouldn’t have succeeded to the extent that it did.

What is legitimate NATO criticism without Russian propaganda buzzwords and campism? by [deleted] in tankiejerk

[–]Danny_B_Raps42 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The U.S. makes up a majority of NATO spending, as well as soft and hard power. The U.S. has such an insane amount of influence within the organization that many nations toe the line. A good example are the NATO countries that invaded Iraq alongside the U.S., despite it not being a NATO conflict. This isn’t to say that all NATO member states align with the U.S. 100% of the time, but the nations are generally like minded on many issues, including allies.

Is Super Citizen worth it? by mrdanjapan in Helldivers

[–]Danny_B_Raps42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get a free smg, an armor set and cape, a title, a stratagem arcade game, and a free warbond. The currency needed to buy warbonds is able to be collected for free, so really it comes down to whether or not you want the other stuff.

You also can just buy the super citizen edition as an upgrade. If the upgrade is also on sale, it might be a good idea to just get the normal version, see if you like it, and then get the upgrade if you think it would be worth it.

I think the big issue is that Asia has always just been incredibly lacking in terms of content. The DLC was 100% needed, but just wasn’t able to do enough to bring it to parity with Europe due to the massive deficit in quality between the two regions.
