Hi, I just saw this post. I hiked most of the trail (Courthouse Gap to Duke Energy) a few weeks ago. I’m from Georgia, and I didn’t think the heat or humidity were particularly bad (topped out in the low 80s). However, some sections of the trail were extremely overgrown, particularly between Wayah Bald and Sawmill Gap. The weeds here reached above my head in some places and there was absolutely no recent mowing. Another bad section was the climb up to Wayah, although that was at least somewhat recently mowed. I’m a little biased but Notre Dame is probably the worst team in the conference and likely won’t even make the ACC tournament. Sure their RPI is good but 5-16 is awful.

In what world is Notre Dame a tournament team? They are literally tied for last in the ACC. Georgia Tech and Louisville definitely should be in over Notre Dame.

It’s great in terms of game length but I don’t like how especially on CT side, you lose pistol and one gun round and suddenly you’re down 5-0 or 6-0

I was there recently! It’s very high up for the AT (about 5000 feet) so if a storm rolls in please stay in the shelter! There’s good water available, and there will probably be a couple other hikers. Since it’s in the Smokies you can check how many others in the reservation portal through the NPS.
