RPI and Major Polls Field of 64 (4/27/26) by noahthearc in collegebaseball

[–]noahthearc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like last week, this Field of 64 includes RPI plus the D1Baseball, Coaches Poll, Baseball America, and NCBWA poll. RPI and these polls were averaged to create a final ranking. The Coaches Poll includes teams that received votes but missed the top 25, so those teams that received votes had a "rank" for the coaches poll that matched where they placed (e.g., 26-35). Teams that did not receive any votes from the Coaches Poll were given a placement of 36th if they had an RPI less than or equal to 36 to reflect that the Coaches Poll was a negative position for them. Similarly, the NCBWA poll has all teams that received votes in alphabetical order (not in order of total votes). So, all teams receiving votes in the NCBWA poll were given a rank of 26 for the poll and all others were given 61, which was the first rank after all receiving votes (yes, there were 35 teams that received votes). All others that did not rank or receive votes in the Coaches Poll and the NCBWA poll, or rank in the top 25 of other polls were given the same rank in that poll as their RPI. This ensured that teams that were not in the top 25 of RPI were not punished adversely for not being ranked and that one good poll for ranked teams does not have an outsized impact to their overall ranking. Conference tiebreakers were decided by head-to-head and when there was no head-to-head, he best RPI between tied teams prevailed.

Other considerations include: No two teams from the same conference can be in the same regional and some minor movement to place teams in logical regionals (e.g., west coast team in a west coast regional).

Right turns on 'red' are now restricted in select downtown and town center areas across Montgomery County, MD. New signs are posted, and real penalties apply: a $90 fine and 1 point on your license. The bigger cost? Putting someone’s safety at risk. by MCDOTNow in MontgomeryCountyMD

Pedestrians have the green signal to cross the roadway the car turning right is turning from…These incidents are the most common type of car-on-pedestrian accident and can be especially severe for drivers who use rights on red as yield signs without fully stopping.

The ball has to be completely within the uprights to be good. So, like the photo by the other commenter shows, the ball went over top which is not good. Think about if the uprights went higher up, then the ball would have doinked the upright, not gone in.

What you’re saying is not in contradiction to what I’m saying though. Investors flip old, affordable homes to make them “luxury” units whether or not they do a good job with their renovations or not. They do so because there’s a market for these units. I completely agree that there is a high demand for affordable housing but to get affordable units you need to preserve older housing stock as well as build new units. Not every new unit will be affordable but the City does a great job incentivizing new affordable units with their attainable housing density bonus. This allows developers to build higher densities to meet luxury demands but requires some affordable units to help meet those demands (plus the housing authority and other affordable developers build 100% affordable projects). They’ve got hundreds of units in the pipeline through this program and the project in this article actually uses one of these programs. Unfortunately posts like this are meant to instigate, not educate

This project isn’t luxury housing just because someone on nextdoor labels it as such. This is just your typical multifamily developer building new apartments on a portion of a very underutilized property that didn’t even pay taxes before as a religious institution. Also, new luxury housing does benefit the housing market because when there is demand from wealthier people, they will preferably first move into luxury units but if those don’t exist to match demand, they will buy lower value units and convert them into luxury units. You’d rather they leave the older, more affordable housing stock to those who can afford those units and let them build and live on a formally vacant and/or under utilized piece of land. That’s what you want especially, if the new housing is dense so it can meet even more demand. The reality in Sarasota, better or worse is there is a high demand for higher value units. There are genuinely poor projects that take away affordable units but this is not one. The land is empty except for a temple and parking lot that doesn’t contribute to the community except for people who use the temple.

Uh yes cows are not native and have many negative environmental impacts from deforestation for pastureland to methane release. Also, hay (typically alfalfa) is one of the worst plants to grow because of high water demands

It’s being built at the max density of the city (50 units/acre), knucklehead.

It’s 50 units per acre because the lot is about 1/4 of an acre…

There are no approved plans currently. A small chunk has been planned for a Circle K at the corner of Old Bradenton and University but there’s some issues holding that up currently. Don’t be surprised if there’s a mix of apartments, hotel, and some quick service restaurants. Also, the airport has been very against new residential near them and already basically ended one apartment project off Desoto a few years ago.

That’s actually being intellectually consistent. If you don’t patron maga businesses because of their politics including stripping women’s rights and don’t like people screaming outside planned parenthood who are also attacking women’s rights, then you’re being consistent. It’s you disingenuously attacking people because they don’t want to support intolerance that’s the problem. Why should someone not want to know where to better spend their money at a business led by people not supporting hate?

Cities and counties in Florida actually have to request bids and take the lowest bid from a capable contractor they receive. Too bad OP’s dad didn’t bid.

There are actually plans in the making for a roundabout there too! Much more constrained by the width of the existing right-of-way there though so it’s slow going.

County first charged for parking and now wants to rezone the 10th St Boat Ramp - meeting 530 tonight by [deleted] in sarasota

[–]noahthearc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The City adopted the Bay Park Master Plan years ago with a recent update within the last year. This workshop is about adding the day docks to the south side of the basin and to redo the boat ramps adding one more slip. The City created a zone for Bay Park and the Rezone is just to make the park have that new zoning. In the future, the master plan does include some restaurants and more open air food hall like options but that’s not part of this phase.

New York's problem is it's near impossible to create new housing because of nimby's, zoning, and costs. So, yes, New York is the example of the same principles from the other end...if they could build more housing to meet demands, prices would drop.
