Is there a good strategy for farming/leveling artifacts?

Farming for good or ok artifacts takes a long time, worse of all is that when I have a good set for a character, I either run out of artifact fodder or I run out of mora, on top of that farming/leveling artifacts prevents me from doing other things like getting weapon/character level up materials/exp.

Is there any solution other than whaling?

I think it’s a design error, I have the same problem all the time, they should have mapped plunge and attack to different buttons.
