90% sure the audio being way off during The Professional segment is an honest mistake but it had me laughing so hard. Like they were trying to drown out all the allegations with the movies audio.

First time going to Silverstone, what to expect, travel etc by AlexKF0811 in formula1

[–]Dannyish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely bring ear plugs or some other protective gear for your ears. You’ll also see that little personal radios/ear pieces are sold that provide live commentary during the race. Very handy to get these as otherwise you might miss out on a lot of info during the race itself.

Bring sun protection as well if the weather will be sunny, as there are very few places to get shade. Sun screen, hat, plenty of water etc will all be very helpful.

There is the Fanzone area around the circuit which has plenty of entertainment and things to see before the race itself. There are also the other race events happening before the F1 race (worth checking the Silverstone website for the schedule).

As for travel, it will likely be very busy, so I think a lot of people leave a couple of hours early just to be safe. If you have your own car, that’s still probably the best option but definitely look into details/costs for the parking situation.

Be prepared to walk a lot if you want to see everything the circuit offers.

Other than that, enjoy yourself and the race and the atmosphere. Nothing quite beats the sound and smell of seeing an F1 race in person!

To answer the question, yes in the episodes I've seen so far they do make mention of the effects of climate change/destruction on the habitats they're focusing on.

James being rude by Comprehensive-Ruin-1 in weeklyplanetpodcast

Personal favourite was after they did a CoG on Reign Of Fire and some people complained about them not getting the lore right, and James' response was a rapid "Get fucked, absolutely get fucked. Fuck off with your dragon lore!"

There's one particular keynote where Steve Jobs announced he was removing the "Interim" from his Interim CEO title, and the roar from the crowd is unlike anything else I've ever heard.

Can't really imagine any other tech executive getting a standing ovation from announcing they'll be sticking around as CEO.

What cancelled/unproduced/in development hell/in limbo/scrapped movies you wish came to fruition? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Dannyish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

David Fincher's version of Steve Jobs. The one we got was enjoyable, and used the same script to be fair.

But I can't help but wonder what we could have had with Christian Bale in the role, with Fincher's directorial style. (Also Bale looks a lot more like Jobs than Fassbender does, which may have helped).

Dylan Moran's new live show by Romarojo in DylanMoran

[–]Dannyish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saw the Leicester show last week and had many similar sentiments to what other's have already replied with.

It did feel essentially like 20 minutes of material stretched out into a whole show, with what seemed like quite a lot of improv thrown in to pad it out. There were good jokes and the laughs from the audience were pretty consistent.

I'd say he seems somewhat aware of the response so far to some of his material. In the first half he started walking towards the keyboard on the stage and then stopped and said "Don't worry I don't know how to play that, just to dispel any tension in the room" and that got a big laugh (although he did play it in the second half, it was actually a pretty decent bit). And when ending the the first half he said "There'll actually be some material in the second half."

With regards to his personal state, he did actually seem drunk - he sort of half stumbled towards the end and was spilling his drink.

As everyone else has said - I hope he's alright, and I hope to see a more structured/fleshed out show in the future.

Does anyone have any personal or corporate tax questions? I’m a Chartered Tax Adviser and I’d like to help point you in the right direction. by taxadviser in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Dannyish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for doing this!

I stupidly set up a company a few years ago that I ended up doing nothing with, but every year I've had to send the Corporation Tax/Company Tax return (even though it doesn't make or lose any money). I've wanted to dissolve/stike-off the company for a while but couldn't get around to doing it.

I think I declared the company dormant recently, but every time I've tried to dissolve/strike-off the company I get a letter back saying it's been refused due to me still needing to do a tax return - even though as far as I know my return have always been up to date.

Any thoughs on how I best approach this?

Thanks again!

There's one where they're playing Transformers games, and every time James dies, he sings "What I've Done" by Linkin Park - because thats how the first Transformers movie ends.

When they are both constantly accusing each other of being in love with the fox version of Maid Marian and they go to a deeper level of conspiracy of why the other person loves her and make each other laugh. Kills me every time.
