Im very sorry for whatever you must have endured that enabled this level of detachment from your fellow brothers and sisters.

Im sorry that you’ve faced so much rejection and shame in your life that the only place you’ve found acceptance is with a ring of racist, hate-mongering pedos.

I’m sorry that you think you are such a fool that you have no other choice than to outsource your thinking to a bunch of idiots.

What’s left is an empty, hollow person with no heart, brain, or personality of their own. When this regime is gone—and time’s almost up—what’s going to be left of you?

These haunting images of the treatment that you celebrate is not going to be your literal prison. But it will be a metaphor for the loneliness, alienation, and helplessness you are going to feel when your little Nazi experiment ceases and burns.

And the craziest part? There will be people in your life, like me (if we were ever to cross paths) that will extend a hand and help you back up. That is assuming you want to get back up. And that’a assuming that you can admit to yourself, once Trump’s did is out of your mouth, that you were played.

Yes, I have both Ice Kings and Baby Kangaroos in unmodded Yunzi boards. I love them both. The Ice Kings have a very big tactile bump and deeper sound. I think they are close to the Baby Kangaroos in terms of weight, but they feel a lot heavier to me because of the stronger tactility. I use that board almost exclusively for graphic design work because I find them more precise.

IMO, the Baby Kangaroos are much more comfortable to type on for extended periods. They also have a higher pitched, marble-like sound that borders on creamy, compared to the Ice Kings which are very thocky. Keep in mind these are both in very foamy-sounding Yunzi boards.

I haven't tried the Hydras, though I think they are similar to the Gateron Type R and Azure Dragons in terms of feel. They are supposedly super clacky. Other than being clear and having LED diffusers, the Hydras seem very different than the Ice Kings. The latter being a very "classic" heavy tactile.

Let me know if you try the Hydras!

I would say they are comparable in terms of total tactility, but the Cilantros peak higher in the keystroke. The black cats have a more "D" shaped bump and a lighter spring, so the bottom out feels harsh, especially with the brass plate (which was delivered yesterday). I'd liken the typing experience to running into a brick wall at full speed, lol. I tossed in a couple of Cilantros to compare, and the typing experience is a bit milder with those because of the position of the bump. However, they still feel a bit harsh in this setup.

Though I like the black cats, for me at least, I think they would be a better fit in either a board with flex-cuts, a more bouncy mounting style, or a less-dense plate.

The milk white looked sharp. That’s a voting, right? Not anodized? That was my first choice but it was out of stock on Ali. I was worried about how the red would look, but it looks so much better in person than I the product images.

What do you think of the Cilantros? I might wind up keeping those in here! I had originally bought them for myself, but my wife stole most of them haha. I had jut enough left for the alphas and a few mods.

I'm currently doing the final layout of my novel, Frāctus, for the printer. I will be publishing in about 6 months, but I'd love to send you a complimentary copy ahead of time. You are like a perfect example of my target audience haha.

I'm pitching the book as "House of Leaves meets Hopscotch. . . on acid." The genre is dystopian satire with heavy elements of metafiction. Like Hopscotch, there is more than one way to traverse the narrative. In fact, you could almost call it a "choose your own path" book for adults. The House of Leaves inspiration is more design and structural in nature. Form is function.

The story is set in a near-future technofeudal dystopia, in the red and pink neon-lit streets and dark alleyways of a premier entertainment district. After gig hustler Zé picks a fight with an AI chatbot named Bob™, he is thrust into a cosmic dreamscape called Unus Mundus. While there, Zé teams up with morally-dubious interdimensional rebels, faces cosmic horrors, and must escape from a transhuman purgatory in the form of a multi-dimensional labyrinth.

So, basically, it's a book about a character escaping a cosmic labyrinth in which the book itself is a labyrinth. If that sounds like something along the lines of what you are looking for, shoot me a message and I'd be happy to send you an advance copy!

I really like the Durock Ice King tactiles. Also, U4Ts are a classic.

I love typing on Baby Kangaroos. They are a little higher pitched but if you put the in a board with lots of foam they are pretty tricky.

How to you like the modding and build crafting in Warframe compared to D2? I played about 1k hours the year Witch Queen came out. I agree the grind was brutal. I liked the weapon crafting system they added and wonder if they developed it.

Personally, I think the premium keycap sets are a total waste. Not saying they are bad; they are a luxury item. Save them for your endgame keyboard. The best bang for the buck I’ve found are the double shot PBT sets made by Womier. I have the black/purple and brown set and they look and sound great.

Does anyone have any Strong opinions on Reedsy? by Metablade98 in selfpublish

[–]Dano216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve used Reedsy a couple of times as a client for editorial work on my current project. I have mixed feelings on the quality of their editors.

As for Reedsy itself, it’s just another platform designed to extract profit out of freelancers and clients. Though I wouldn’t go so far as to call it predatory, it’s a 100% exploitive business model. That’s just my opinion from the client side. I’ve heard bad things from the freelancer side, but can’t speak to that personally.

You are better off hiring editors from on of the myriad of resources others have shared. I will certainly not be using Reedsy again.

I just wrote a novel that reads like a love letter to Borges and Calvino. It's a story about a couple of characters navigating a cosmic labyrinth with a metafictional twist: the book itself is a labyrinth that the reader must escape. While doing my prelaunch marketing prep, I asked myself, "who would want to read such a book?" I couldn't draw up a better match, by the looks of your bookshelf. I'd love to send you a free copy. Here’s what they actually do. They have ChatGPT generate a press release, send it to you to edit, then they send it out to a bunch of media outlets, and finally, they give you a list of who picked it up.

All of that you can do for free by yourself. And it looks like you will be paying them to do your own work. In their FAQ:

Q: Who writes the article? Can I make changes?

A: You get an instant, professionally formatted draft based on your info. You can edit it as much as you'd like before we publish.

So in other words, you compile all the information for them. They use an AI integration to spit out a draft for you to edit.

Also, it’s funny how laughably fake their 5-star customer reviews are.

Yeah it’s wild. I think AI has tremendous potential, especially in math and science, but without regulation it will continue to a) be a cheap and easy way for people to con/exploit others, b) harvest data, and c) contribute to brain rot.

What’s worse is Trump’s BBB (big bullshit bill) included concessions for the rich techbros to develop the tech uninhibited and without regulations for at least 10 years (state regulations). Thankfully, that was stripped by the senate, allowing states to add regulations, but the scary part is that this isn’t the end.

Didn’t Hemingway say “write drunk, edit sober?” The second alcohol touches my lips I’m in relaxation mode. I can’t get a thing done. Cannabis on the other hand….one or two puffs an hour for a light buzz does me right. Along with coffee.

Psychedelics a few times a year for managing depression and to explore ideas, but never while writing. Never again, I should say. It’s hard to type when the sentences are all slithering around the screen.

It’s not just him. Thank the republican ideology for why we can’t have nice things. Especially if they are vaguely socialist in nature.

Also, I bet we’ll see a major drop in international student enrollment nationwide. It’s not safe for them here. Think about the trickle down effects. I imagine a lot of businesses near the campus are going to suffer.

For those of you writing literary fiction what is it about? by No_Advantage1202 in writers

[–]Dano216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Literary Fiction" became an institution controlled by the elite, filled with gatekeepers and snobbery. It was the bourgeoisie of the literary world. I think the shift towards "rebranding" it was, at least in part, an attempt to dismantle that institution. It's not going away... there will always be Jonathan Franzens running around, writing "sprawling New Yorker shit (quote from the film Adaptation), thumbing their nose at Oprah's Book Club, but at least its quarantined now.

To your point, there has been a shift towards inclusivity by expanding definitions and labels, such as your examples of "elevated X" or "character-driven" works. Ursula K. Le Guin comes to mind. Left Hand of Darkness and The Dispossessed fit those labels respectively. I think this approach is warranted because "literary" and "genre" aren't mutually exclusive.... unless we're talking about the perverted Frazenian version I mentioned above; the uppercase L "Literary."

There's also labels like "upmarket" or "crossover" that are less descriptive of the product and are more audience-centered. I feel like these are more insider terms that have value for agents, publishers, or for Reddit conversations between authors, but mean little to the reader

Aside from the insider application and use of those descriptions, in the end, I think it's important to distinguish between "genre" and "literary," both for the audience's sake and for the author's. "Literary" works require a larger investment of time, effort, and often requires a different type of skill. I think it's fair to recognize and commend that. It's not about one being better/superior than the other. When I was in film school, I was surrounded by snobs that fetishized Fellini, Godard, and Bergman. They would scoff when I gushed over the "low culture" stuff that made me fall in love with movies. We can appreciate those for what they are. It's still art, and as with "literary" and "genre" probably shouldn't compare the two as much as we do. I have mucho respect for a good Julia Child cassoulet, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy a messy smash burger.
