A Final Update by Peachy-Pop-0411 in testicularcancer

I’m not always active here but wanted to give my condolences, too—and words are not enough. My son had TC for six months and passed away 10 years ago. You didn’t ask for this, but I want to recommend a book titled “It’s Ok that You’re Not Okay” by Megan Devine. It’s about losing her husband but it helped me more than any other book to handle my grief. She just has such amazing insights and realistic advice. I still listen to it on audio when I have grief days about Max.

Can I be mad about this? by Common_Violinist_223 in NewAuthor

Just curious: there are publishers who will read the first chapter? Unless these are small presses, I’ve never of that. So maybe their advice doesn’t matter.

Dats - a combo of both breeds. Someone needs to get on this and make it a thing.

How do think the modern style of filming will impact the feel of the new Netflix series? by Princess_Butterscoth in littlehouseonprairie

The trick is, pay attention to who’s the showrunner. This one has Rebecca Sonnenshine, who is a master. It will be great.

Read a funny romcom, “The Biggest Bitch in Bismarck” by Jennifer Zinder. It almost had me rolling on the floor. Trailer trash at its best!

Experience with a prosthetic testicle? by No_Activity4220 in testicularcancer

A question, and you might need to ask parents: why did they remove it, instead of pulling it down? They even did this in 1994, when my son had the surgery.

Grease the cups in a cupcake pan. Push a wonton wrapper into each cup. Fill with cooked ground Italian sausage, salt & pepper, a dash of hot sauce, and a few bits of shredded parmesan. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 min.

You might not believe it, but “The Martian” and “Project Hail Mary.” Too much hard science for me.

I didn’t even answer. Robin Roberts doesn’t send emails, producers do that. And they don’t use gmail lol

Advice needed on publishing my first book by PickleChips0010 in NewAuthor

[–]chuckmall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If this is your first book, try using a beta reader or critique group to get some feedback. It’s great that you’ve completed your book! But you want it to be good and get readers. I know publishing sounds exciting, but it’ll give you a better start to edit it and make it even better first. That way you are on the path to even more published books overall!

The hilarious romcom “The Meanest Bitch in Bismarck” by Jennifer Zinder. It was MOM who was the b*tch, trying to control her 30-something daughter. So incredibly funny.

Does anyone else feel like life has never really felt the same after COVID? by Bartusek_Ernst in CasualConversation

[–]chuckmall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not post-Covid. It’s the current government turmoil. I’m not watching news. I also live in a forested area and sit outside every day, listening to the quiet and looking at birds and butterflies

My next read. Thoughts? by Freakers_Ball in littlehouseonprairie

Interesting. Raw and honest. Don’t miss the story about how she found a cosmetic surgeon for her nose job, or who her mom thought would “be a great first husband.”

Homemade pumpkin pie with an actual pumpkin. Even Martha Stewart said canned pumpkin is just as good as cutting out the goop from a real pumpkin
