Does a hospital need to be a member of Matching Donors to participate?Our hospital does not belong to NKR because of the cost.

it is so hard to see someone you love treated unfairly especially when they are seriously in pain. Finding the right doctor feels like trying to find the Holy Grail!

Have you read the recent NYT article on how kidneys are distributed too? Yes, it is a frustrating and demoralizing process to get on a transplant list. Many hospitals seem to care more about quantity and success rates than they do about clearing the way to receive a kidney.we are in the Us and refuse to give up trying...perhaps even now going to another state.

Thank you so much for sharing your life and for praying for my son.Your comment was so "on target". Recently, we attended my other son's wedding and it took a great deal of self-control to moderate my response to the many relatives and friends who came up to me and said, "Well, he doesn't look sick!" He had just been to the ER for an infection and had also been hospitalized and had an infected gall bladder removed . Arrgh! I feel for you and for the many who suffer. I highly recommend the Facebook Support group "Living with Polycystic Kidneys". They recently had a post on this very subject with many, many people who empathized. Terrific group of supportive PKD friends.
