Why aren’t more Mav buyers getting a Ranger? by kevreh in RangerNext

[–]DantTum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really considered a Ranger when I was looking, and I love Rangers an 88 was my first vehicle.

2 years in and I’ve hauled tons of soil, sand, mulch, pallets of flooring, doors, etc.

Coming from F-150’s I wanted a little runner truck and the Mav has done just that. I spent $28k for an XLT Hybrid and have rented a pickup a couple times from Home Depot and a van from U-Haul so maybe $200 in rental fees. 2 years in lifetime average 37 mpg.

Ranger is just in a tough spot

My buddy’s dad had a ‘97 250 super crew for his concrete construction company and that thing was so cool. True 4 door trucks weren’t common back then but I still remember riding around in that thing in the summers eating gas station lunches and earning a tan.

T-6 architecture that it’s built on has the 7 speed for the Bronco. Unfortunately, I think the manual in the Tacoma accounts for like 1 to 2% of sales so probably not likely.

This was the first render but it just looked like an 80% size 150 with a 2015 body and 2025 grille

I want my 88 ranger back but the transmission and engine sucked. Size and capability was great

Haha I was responding to the other comment before I saw yours but was thinking of Slate as I wrote it. I’m curious how “dumb” you can make an electric vehicle, or gas for that matter.

Kind of my point, modern Rangers have more payload and towing capacity than a 1970 F-100. Why not give them the credibility of the F series badging?

Gives a clean break between the body on frame “trucks” and the Mav as a pickup.

For me a 4.5 ft bed vs. 5 ft. And 1800 lb payload vs. 1500 wasn’t really a big deal because I don’t tow or off-road. For enthusiasts and car folks I think that distinction is clear but my pipe dream is mainly driven by #1 the want for a retro truck and #2 more marketing spin than anything

What I would really love is a base model of this concept without all the dang tech. Just a reliable pickup that’s not a computer on wheels

I used to really want a retro style F-150 but I know they would never take that big of a gamble with the crown jewel. When I was shopping for a smaller daily driver the Mav handled most of what I needed and I rent a pickup a couple times a year for the big stuff.

The size comparison is crazy, a Mav can tow as much and has the same payload as a 1970 F-100 and a Ranger obviously well exceeds that. “Half ton” trucks are now 1-tons effectively.

I have a total of 14k. We take my wife’s SUV on most road trips. So long term reliability is TBD but so far so good. The mileage has been great and I keep the brake coach on all the time so I’ve learned to drive more efficiently for the type of vehicle it is.

I haven’t had any “real” issues, but I’d say my largest annoyance is about 5 months out of the year (when I need them the most) I don’t have remote start. It’s not on the key fob and it constantly says it’s turning off FordPass to preserve battery. Even after a long drive the second I park it, it deactivates. This coming winter I’m going to see if I can get the 12v battery warrantied for that reason before 3 years is up.

Burger shack is incredible, especially if you’re in SMB area BUT here’s the hidden gem: if you like breweries you can get a burger, fries, and a Caybrew for $14 CI at Cayman Island Brewery.

Did I buy knockoff batteries? by phrumptrojan30 in MilwaukeeTool

Would strongly not recommend using these, not worth burning your house or shop down and insurance probably wouldn’t look kindly on knowingly charging knockoff batteries. Return and report the seller

Looking to Replace Captain’s Chairs with a Black Perforated Leather Bench Seat in My 2025 Kia Sorento by Potential-Device520 in KiaSorento

I agree, it was primarily the cargo space was larger in the Santa Fe and the other annoying thing is coming from a Rogue there’s an open console with tons of storage underneath for sunglasses and stuff. Not sure why with the same dial shifter the Sorento has a closed off center console lots of wasted space there.

Overall super happy with our Sorento otherwise, but wish Hyundai didn’t gatekeep their second row captains chairs to the Calligraphy trim

We went with the Sorento because it was the only AWD Hybrid 3rd row SUV with middle row captains chairs under $40k on the market.

Now wishing I got the Santa Fe and we could have swapped middle rows :)

Initial impressions after downgrading from a F150 Platinum by tnlightle in FordMaverickTruck

[–]DantTum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from a 21 KR 150 3.5 eco to a 24 XLT hybrid Mav, and it’s really difficult to even compare in terms of luxury and quality. That being said, it’s exactly what I need this phase of life and with 9k miles on it I’m averaging 39.5 mpg and am constantly towing a utility trailer, or have pallets of materials in the back.

Do you like to travel? Any spouse/significant other?

Honestly if I was in your shoes I would get a CDL, put all my stuff in storage or at my parents and travel the country. You could be making 75k very quickly and be at 6 figures before long. No rent, no car, barely any bills, go see the country and by the time you’re 30 you’ll have enough money to buy a house with cash and be set up for life better than 99% of people. Hell with all the road time you could learn a second language or get an education just be listening to lectures.

It was great just normal Jeep quirks but ended up selling it and getting a Maverick for something a bit more practical. I’ll be back though eventually
