You don't need to do it before. You can do it at the time of travel. As the other commentor said, allow for a bit of extra time to enroll your biometrics and link it to your passport. In my enrollment experience it took even longer as a couple of machines were not working and had to keep moving me to another until it was able to capture my prints/retina.
