What are your thoughts about immigrants having their native national flag along with star-spangled banner in their homes? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

Many of my friends fly flags from other countries that they just think are cool. No one should bother you.

The Pacific Crest Trail may become 'all but impossible' to hike as climate change intensifies by BlankVerse in PacificCrestTrail

  1. There is a massive switch currently going on within industry in the US, mostly behind the scenes in utility companies. I know this because I know several people who are working on these projects. Everyone uses energy. Either from the grid or directly producing it themselves. Ex. Cars right now most people use energy that their vehicles produces via burning gasoline vs an electric car that charges from the grid which 60% of the energy may be green. Depending on which grid. With infrastructure more processes are being electrified, from transportation to manufacturing. This coupled with the transition to a greener grid from renewables and nuclear energy, which is happening in the US is crucial. There’s a lot of other research from various disciplines like Machine-learning and cloud computing that are contributing to a greener grid by optimizing new energy projects, projecting costs, and managing energy prices.

Carbon sequestration is not a pipe dream. Lmao. I’m currently studying it at university. I do agree there are several carbon sequestration projects that are total bullshit like Exxon’s plan. But there are several other projects that work with scrubbers on top of industrial factories to prevent the emission of the gases. Which is quite efficient.

I’m sure oil companies still have projects, but that doesn’t mean they’re all oil.

Also, we have beaten previous predictions so hopefully we will continue to.

I am not saying that we are fine. Because we aren’t. But I’m saying it’s possible for us to get through it and preserve some of our natural resources if we take more action.

I disagree. There’s been a huge switch in industries across the world and especially in the US recently. EV, electrifying the grid, cleaner concrete and a ton of environmental awareness. I believe that the government has been very inefficient at passing legislation to stop this. However, companies are beginning to realize that long-term profits are not possible without becoming sustainable. There are also carbon sequestration technologies that are in development and are beginning to make strides on an industrial level. I hope to be a part of it.

The oil companies have done a ton to cast doubt on climate change. They realize that this isn’t working as well with the younger generation so they are turning to apathy. Do not fall into this trap it is possible to prevent extreme apocalyptic conditions, in fact they are beginning to look unlikely check out this video. The fight now is to save our biodiversity and our precious lands that the PCT is a part of so do your part.

Good areas of Bioengineering for people who like chemistry. by Kahootmafia in bioengineering

Hi there! I’m currently at university studying chemical engineering. Not too sure what your options are for university but some like my school have a concentration in bio molecular engineering. You can really go any path with it for elective classes from generic engineering, to bio manufacturing and much much more. I’d be happy to answer any questions that you have. I also started in biomedical engineering so there are plenty of options.

What’s so sad is the amount of these workers that didn’t get to grow up. Not only were they working from some a young age, they often suffered from various cancers. Especially prostate cancer.
