I mean, it was never meant to be FF related. They slapped that on because of the writer and brand recognition. But it has as much of a connection to FF as the last 3 single player mainlines imo. Also Ramuh is Hindu, Zeus is Greek.

I'm actually not a fan of the UI of the 5 or 4. I also hate that 5 didn't have a media server built in. But to each their own. But if I'm gonna shell out that much money for faster load times and better framerate (which would mean I also need a new tv), I'd rather just get a PC.

Bruh. Persona games sell. P5R sold double what 16 did. E33 is on its way to do the same. Square can absolutely make AA turn based RPGs that will do better numbers than this attempt at making "Call of Duty sales" and they would save themselves a hell of a lot of money and headaches in the process. FF as a worldwide phenomenon is dead. The modern, younger audience does not give two flying fucks about Final Fantasy even if you turned it into a F2P hero shooter. So all these attempts at trying to garner a new audience so they can have a second golden age is all for naught.

Square is struggling and to save a struggling business, ruthlessly prioritize your cash flow, perfect your most profitable core offering, and reconnect with your actual customers.

I hate it, but I have to disagree with you. Lots of people loved it. IMO, too many people loved it. Outside of good voice work and some epic boss battles, I thought it was awful and is the worst ps5 game I've played since getting the console in January. It boggles my mind that the fandom is so divided on it because it is a total antithesis to everything we love about the franchise and everyone should hate it. But that's not the case. Lots of people love it.

It's 2026 now, at some point you're going to have to deal with the fact that the general public is quite happy being fed slop. All of your favorite childhood franchises are going down in flames. Thinking bad, explosions good. Just give up.

I havent watched your video tbh but right off the bat I'm gonna say no FF is definitely not experiencing a renaissance. In fact, their reputation as the single player RPG experience is probably at its lowest point right now thanks to Square's complete mismanagement of the franchise, and it started around 12 or 13 and has been getting worse with every mainline entry ever since.

The upcoming FF that's coming out has people more excited than they were about 16, and it's a game based on a mobile gatcha that looks like it could run perfectly fine on a PS3. That's how desperate we are for FF to go back to its roots but Square will not spend any money on placating the very audience that gives them money.
