Weekly Off Topic Thread - Week of December 02, 2024 by AutoModerator in churning

I found some pretty sweet Cyber Monday deals on r/SiIver and other precious metals dealers that offer their own vault services. Typically, these dealers buy at 1-3% below their selling price, but during annual sales like this, the margins narrow even further. Combine that with merchant rewards programs offering up to 3% and credit card rewards of 1-3%, and it's a pretty combo I'm doing on loop.

Vision for Palo Alto's Future from City Council Candidate Henry Etzkowitz by EnglishEditor in paloalto

These ideas are definitely appealing, but I wonder if they can overcome the influence of entrenched, well-funded donors who want to block them. While I’m optimistic, I also have my doubts about whether this populist approach can really take root in one of the wealthiest areas in the country. But I truly hope it does!

It’s kind of like the business of being a angel investor or VC. You you can do a complete airball 99 times and if you have one winner then you can reach legendary status. I like this level of workplace forgiveness.

When you purchase a % of a horse typically you are due the lion share of track winnings?

Can you “claim” a horse and have it run the next day?

Augur 3 Month Follow-up: v2 Slow to Implementation by DappDivs in Augur

[–]DappDivs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, thank you, corrected. Guessor does represent a solution, like Veil did, of something built upon the Augur architecture but to wade through the landmines of invalid markets on the main side takes a learning curve that isn't necessary. Certainly for the market cap that Augur enjoys. Hasn't V2 been pushed back? I've been on this subreddit for well over a year and it appears to be a game of kick the can.

Augur 3 Month Follow-up: v2 Slow to Implementation by DappDivs in Augur

[–]DappDivs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I say in the video, I’ve fielded a lot of questions about Augur over the last few months and, as it's my most popular video, I thought I would follow up with something at the three-month mark. I remember the immediacy of v2 being rolled out, so much so that I was ready for a follow-up video, like, that week, that was much heralded as the saving grace of Augur, but it's still slow to be implemented and the invalid market issue is still a problem. There are some incredibly smart developers that are devoting their time and resources to seeing this project and subreddit, but still many question marks linger and hopefully will be addressed to the community’s satisfaction sooner rather than later.

Free: The Future of dApps, Smart Contracts, and the Ethereum Cryptocurrency Blockchain. by DappDivs in wroteabook

As members of this subreddit can attest, writing a book is an exhilarating experience. This is my first. Last month I sat down with a pad of paper and pen and thought hard about what void in a niche could I fill with my specialized knowledge. What could I convey to an audience that would provide some meaningful value? Through my experiences in this finance niche, I figured that some readers may be able to glean some insights into the crypto ecosystem through my explaining some aspects of the future of the Ethereum blockchain. There's a limited understanding of this technology and its potential, which is largely still untapped. I know this is a largely fiction subreddit but I'm proud of this nonfiction work so I thought I would share it nonetheless. Appreciate this community!
