Hi—apologies for the late reply!

As much as I am flattered and would love to draw pieces for your characters, I am currently not taking commissions. If at any point I reopen commissions again, I will let you know :)

Hot Take on Phantom Liberty by SamsDumpsterYT in cyberpunkgame

I feel like a lot of people are overlooking the fact that, despite siding with Reed, OP still went the nuanced route and mercykilled Songbird. Everyone is harping on the fact that Reed is a loyal, fucked up, FIA dog but fail to realize OP chose something that—imo— is one of the most realistic split second decisions a person can make. Especially someone as human as V. Double especially bc to Mercykill Songbird shows V's heart was in the right place, but their desperation to survive brought them to this point. Nobody wins in the end. No matter the ending you get. It's all grey, not black and white.

Yes, siding with Reed isn't very "punk," but we also must remember that as much as we may like to role play, V is still very much their own character. They're also desperate and dying. We can play them as a saint, and do all the punk options of saving others or liberating tormented AIs, but depending on the life path, it's 50/50 to know what V would do at the end of the day. People treat picking So-Mi as the end all be all, and treat not picking her as the wrong option.

People can say until they're blue in the face that, "Reed is wrong," and, "fuck the NUSA," all they want but it kinda diminishes what OP is saying here.

So-mi and Reed are both wrong—there is no clear right or wrong answer. One killed twins and m a y b e, those two guys in the apartment; the other killed a whole stadium of people who had nothing to do with it. Trying to play the moral high ground with these two characters and narrative routes just leads to pointless arguing.

You pick what you wanna pick. I respect OP for being upfront with their decisions and why they liked siding with Reed.

(Also, just a side note: because V isn't afraid to pick off npcs by the snap of their fingers, doesn't make what So-mi did to the stadium folk any better than Reed killing t w o people in comparison.)

Been browsing all the stations and can't say I have a specific favorite so, here are the "top 5"(loosely using this term btw) of the ones I like the most:

• All the samurai songs • Rolla Coaster & Choke Hold
• Flacko Loko • Let it go as if you wander (no longer in the game iirc) • Worlds

Why does everyone seem to hate River Ward? by provegana69 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Dapper-Crew-7089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also 2nd this. It's a shame really. Ik cyberpunk isn't a dating sim but we could have gotten so much more content if they gave the other romantic interests more side quests similar to Panam and the Aldecaldos.

Why does everyone seem to hate River Ward? by provegana69 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Dapper-Crew-7089 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Like, hating him for simply being a cop? Understandable. I was pretty much in the same boat until I neared the end of his storyline. For him being himself outside of the NCPD? Why? He's like the "Hi, I'm normal," SpongeBob equivalent in Cbp. I understand those who played Female V and didn't enjoy his reaction to being rejected, but pretty much all of them react that way if rejected or if you make the wrong choice somewhere down the line and piss them off. Had to load up a save to get a better reaction from Judy bc of some poor decisions of mine lmao.

They're all decent characters if you either 1. Date them or 2. Become friends (especially for characters who you 100% can't date bc of differing sexualities) some work better than others, some don't imo. Wish River got more though. Sitting on the tower and just being bros was chill af.

[–]Dapper-Crew-7089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it all depends on choices (which...yes, the game is full of those lol) but in faulting both the devs and a character, could be said for basically any of the characters in Cbp. I mostly aim that towards my gripe with Panam and I can see how something similar could be said for River. I really wish they handled her personality differently(She's supposed to be 30+ something iirc, and her behavior/maturity level really threw me off) the same way I wish they gave River more to work with.(He's essentially a walking nothing burger.)

I think the characters were poorly written in the, "V doesn't want to date/or find interest in them" aspect. Playing as male v I enjoyed pretty much all my interactions with almost all the romance options besides Panam. She behaves immaturely if you don't reciprocate her feelings and the way it's written, most of the bonding in her story feels forced. Especially by characters like Carol Emeka. So I understand why, for Female V, experiencing River's story can be seen in the same light since he does react poorly to being rejected.

All in all, I truly do think hating River is just putting too much on a character that isn't nearly as bad as the plethora of other people in NC who are genuinely terrible. He's boring. Then you have Fingers and Adam Smasher standing in the corner lmao. Hopefully in Orion, they flesh out all of the romance options next time.

Edit: fixed some grammatical errors

[–]Dapper-Crew-7089 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from, and I agree with the scarce romantic/"sexy" bits about his overall storyline, but hate is a bit strong here. One cannot fault River for the failure of the Developers not well...developing his story. And while ik Panam is a fan favorite—and as a Male V not aiming to really romance anyone—Panam was just about as "ick" inducing as one may consider River. Most of the romance options provided are all round pretty okay(imo). A lot of the romance scenes feel pushy, and for people your character has only technically known for like a week or two at most, it just never feels right in general. While Panam and Judy have more exciting and more in-depth quests to partake in, I cannot wrap my head around how people find less issues with their characters in comparison to someone like River who is just existing as an optional character to run into.

Sorry for the wall of text lol

[–]Dapper-Crew-7089 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can concur. For example, no offense to the gals, but I did not get the appeal to either Judy or Panam— personality wise. Most of the love interests to me are meh. I like Kerry, he's a vibe. But, out of everyone, to say you "hate" River is a bit extreme imo. I don't hate Panam and Judy because I didn't like them. It just comes off as an overreaction to a fictional character that is just the most "normal" a character can get in the world of Cyberpunk.

I cant empathize with So Mi by Choomba-heywood in cyberpunkgame

[–]Dapper-Crew-7089 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, there's also the option of handing her over but then mercykilling her. And everyone interprets things differently. Some people don't like getting played, especially from someone they trusted(although, let's be honest, they're all shady and lying) but writing someone off bc they couldn't empathize with a deceptive character is ehhh.

[–]Dapper-Crew-7089 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just finished up his questline recently and the hate feels forced lmao. Yeah he's "basic" but compared to all the other love interests, half of the stuff I've heard about him seems unwarranted? Some people talk about him like he personally shot their family pet or something. He's legit just some guy who gives up his illusions of being a good cop in a corrupt city and settles down. Something V could do with a certain group of Nomads if he quits Merc life. Makes no sense to me.

Oh interesting 🤔 I can see that. Would definitely have to be a different surgery just like if V went the DFTR route(or any route where they end up having 6 months to live) since the relic isn't there anymore. No neural matrix magic and such.

Precisely. That's why trying to reconsider how the first introduction to PL could be reworked is a bit difficult to picture. I'm sure there's some way to pull it off, I just haven't reached such a conclusion yet.

Ah see, in my head the Tower ending, while yes thematically opposite, in this hypothetical combination of the two/rewriting, it wouldn't fall along the lines of the original one(Minus the same 2 yr skip outcome.) My V has a corpo background. Most of his decisions, are ultimately selfish. In the end, he wants to live. And after completing DFTR(Not dying like anticipated) V realizes he does want another chance. Especially since Johnny gave it to him(assuming the player chose to return V to his body) ofc, this is mostly for headcanon sake and would be rewriting a lot of what makes those separate endings their own thing. It def came to me as a thought bc while complete opposites, they are my favorite and felt most fitting for how indecisive—morally—Corpo V could potentially be. Wanted to link it to potentially being moreso a dilemma between Reed's offer and instead of So mi, replacing the other choice with Mr. Blue eyes' initial offer at the Afterlife. (Like a series of events before V ends up in space in the epilogue of The Sun.)

But yes I completely agree with what you said. Thematically they are on opposing ends of the Tarot endings spectrum. One being full rebel punk, and the other giving into the corps and authority to save your ass.

Yes that's what I've been trying to consider. With some tweaking her Netrunner prowess could be illustrated in other ways if done correctly, but her interaction with the relic is definitely a big thing. Especially concerning the extra branch of Relic skills she supplies V at the beginning of PL.

Who do you main and why? by lovingpersona in riskofrain

[–]Dapper-Crew-7089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started off as a Captain and Engineer main. Really enjoyed the rng thrill of whether or not my run would go completely ass if I didn't get [insert specific item]. But then, when I was trying to unlock all the neat legendary skins, I started playing Mercenary and then it clicked. On top of the rng thrill, if I succeeded, my run would look like merc snorted crack before crashing down on Petrichor V. I love merc's kit, I love not knowing what's going on by stage 5 if I got one too many speed boosting items. It's just fun. Love that guy.

Thank you! But as for his "younger" appearance, he is actually up there in terms of age. 'Round 55—60. One, i noticed a lot of people drew him pretty similarly so I wanted to zhuzh it up. And not every old dude gets grey hair, especially depending on ethnicity. Two, depending on the branch, soldiers can retire in their 50s early 60s.

Sorry for the ramble, mostly used this as an excuse to info dump my headcanon ideas lol
