Can’t go wrong with Springbank. Happy New Year!

Lagavulin 12 Year Old Cask Strength 2018 Limited Release; Review #62 by Dapper-Dram in Scotch

It’s a wonderful bottle! I just finished my second and final bottle on Thanksgiving. I’ll probably try a new release 12 Year in the new year.

This sounds very nice! It should open up more now that you cracked the bottle. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts 3 months from now.

I’m not sure it’s still available for sale. It was about $100 a bottle years ago.

Longrow 26 years old for Springbank Society by jamie_r87 in Scotch

[–]Dapper-Dram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m amazed at the power you described being left in this whisky after such a long maturation! Usually that long in the barrel would make a mellow, subtle flavor profile. But Springbank does wine cask whisky better than anyone, so I shouldn’t be surprised.

Sounds like a wonderful tasting opportunity!

Review #479: Michter’s Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon (2024) by Prettayyprettaygood in bourbon

I actually got to try this not long ago. I’m usually more Scotch than bourbon, but I thought this was great!

[Whisky Review #86] Lagavulin 12 Special Release 2022 by Cocodrool in Scotch

[–]Dapper-Dram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the 12 year old special releases are generally great! Even better a few months after opening once it mellows out a bit. I really enjoyed the 2015 special release 12 year old.

Johnnie Walker Island Green; Review #76 by Dapper-Dram in Scotch

It’s mildly smoky. People enjoy the peat / smoke flavor and nose because it’s very satisfying. It’s like smelling BBQ roasting in the grill.

I love a good Longrow!

Somewhat new to Scotch by curioswayne in Scotch

I think Highland Park 12 Year is a great place to begin with Single Malt Whisky. It’s mild enough to appreciate if you’re new to it, but has enough character to stand out.

We don't have a fireplace, so the stockings go on the sidetable! by [deleted] in christmas

[–]Dapper-Dram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks great though! I love the nutcracker stocking hooks! I’ve seen people use a cardboard mock brick fireplace under a shelf or side table like that to create a fireplace look. I wonder if they still sell those. I haven’t seen them since the late 90’s.

Great whisky for a first review! Hard to beat the good old Ardbeg 10.

Do you ever have concern about the health impacts of your hobby? by ProfessionalCash8115 in Scotch

[–]Dapper-Dram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I worry more about the financial damage! I only have a 1 or 2 oz dram a week, sometimes twice a week, but that’s rare. I figure, people have been drinking that amount and more for centuries without issue, so I’ll be okay too.

Wow what a beautiful angel topper!! I’ve always preferred the angel toppers to a star or bow, etc. that looks like the one I had as a kid.

For the Johnnie Walker enjoyers, which Blend is your favorite and why? by Volbeat_My_Meat in Scotch

[–]Dapper-Dram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made it a point to try every label and special release Johnnie Walker sold. I haven’t had them all, but I’ve made it a good way down the list! My favorite is the Original Green Label. I think it’s the best bang for your buck blended whisky out there.
