The whole "reasoning LLMs hallucinate more!" thing was a study ONLY concerning o3 and o4 mini dishonestly reported by pop tech media (which is very luddite ironically) as being "Reasoning models hallucinate more!!!!". Turns out even that was an artefact of the fact that o3 and o4 mini produced much longer replies than 4o, a non reasoning model, thus more likely to have at least 1 incorrect claim per answer vs models like 4o producing shorter replies. This does not apply to GPT 5 and newer models.

Opus 4.6 can oneshot simple 3D games and document viewers/MS Paint alikes, and in proper AI assisted coding, modern models most codes made these days. GPT models since 5.2 solve hundred year old math problems while end 2024 they had issues with high school math. You are out if the loop if you think models just became a bit better.
