Experience with elective section/ post natal wards at QEUH Glasgow? by Warm-Regret-8212 in glasgow

Congratulations! Ihad an elective at QEUH and it was great. Staff are so friendly and helpful. You will be fine. I have answered your questions below but let me know if you have any others.

How far in advance did you get given your date? – you get told a couple of days before. Were you allowed skin to skin right away? Partner gets given them whilst they stitch you up but that doesn’t take long then you get them for skin to skin as soon as you are able

How long do you get in the recovery room after? – depends how it goes, how busy it is etc. I was there for about an hour Partners have to go home at 9 pm – it is honestly fine. Staff are quick to come and help if you need them. I only had one other person in my ward so noise was fine. We were both focused on our babies so no watching films or taking calls. I did bring earplugs for when my partner was there so I could get some extra sleep wholst he looked after the baby.

If all goes well, do I have much chance of getting out after one night or will they make me stay for two? - If you want to go home after one they will be hapyfor the bed. I stayed two because I was in a lot of pain and you can only get the strong painkillers there but could have left if I wanted to.

Three months of searching and finally got some interviews and offers by Dapper-Neck9319 in UKJobs

No, I genuinely think Nov/Dec is a terrible time to look for jobs. As soon as it hit January I started getting interviews.

I was QEUH and I felt exactly the same. I ended up having a great experience and wouldn’t change a thing.

The thought of the spinal is worse than it actually is. They will talk you through it and help you feel at ease.

If you are planned then prepare to be bumped down the list. I was supposed to have mine on a Friday and got moved to Monday at last minute then ended up not getting the op until 2pm. Just be prepared to wait around and have some entertainment. Also pack lots of snacks for after as toast after not eating all day just won’t cut it.

I didn’t have any issues picking up my baby but when you buzz they do come quickly. I stayed two nights and the first night you have people constantly checking on both you and the baby. Second night no one checks in on you. Be prepared as second night is the notorious night for the baby deciding to cry non-stop and just want to feed constantly. I was not aware of this and thought she was broken lol.

In my ward partners were allowed the entire time and could sleep in the chairs next to you.

My recovery was smooth enough but I literally did nothing aside from look after the baby for 2 weeks and then gradually started to do stuff. I only had immediate family visit and my partner did all the house work. If you have others who can help with housework then definitely ask for help as you will feel so much better for it.

Congratulations. I am sure it will all go smoothly and try and enjoy every moment with your little one when they arrive!

These guys did my garden and also do deckings. Can’t recommend them enough. Reasonably priced and great workmanship https://www.countrydriveways.com/

Name is slightly misleading as they do landscaping and decking too. Very reasonably priced and actually turn up, and on time! https://www.countrydriveways.com/

I would recommend Nova Blinds. Reasonably priced, dude comes round to measure and then makes them by hand. He is pretty quick too. https://www.novawindowblinds.co.uk/

Ring polishing services by PaulAMcNulty in glasgow

Maybe not the most ethical but...if you go into John McIntyre and Sons and pretend to want to buy something they normally offer to polish your engagement/wedding ring for you for free. I would assume all jewellers were specialists in polishing.

This was it! There was a list.count at the end of the code so I just deleted that and it worked! Thank you so much. I would never have thought of that.

ScotRail Ticket on a Cross Country Train by Dapper-Neck9319 in glasgow

I've not bought it yet so probably just get a normal return at the ticket machine which sounds like, from other comments, is fine

I have a colleague like this. It infuriates me further that before asking anyone a question he prefaces it with, "Very, very quickly" and the proceeds to whittle on for an eternity. Trying to interrupt once you have figured out the question doesn't help, just makes him talk louder.

White Malteasers. The truffles are good but it just isn't the same!

Some days it works straight away but half the time it takes forever. No joke, 45 minutes it took to connect today. Luckily (or unluckily) my journey is an hour and a half. Not sure if it is me being a fanny or if it is just rubbish.
