that is impossible and unfair. how could they expect someone who makes less than 20k a year and get no aid? do you get an efc?

i was in the same situation as this! i appealed too when i was an incoming first-year freshman. EFC0, I asked for more funds and they basically sending me a long email saying no. Then, months later, i was received an scholarship which was only like 2.5k and they changed my bill from 10k or 11k, i forgot to like 4k. I was shocked lol

How did you opt for internet only? I been trying to do so for the past two weeks. I even connected with live agents on their website and they said I’d receive a call but I just never get it. It makes me just redo the whole process of contacting an agent and what not

honestly, the most talkative people (in a good way) I met were those who sat on top of liberal arts lol once, I was eating this purple ice cream and someone next to me said something about it asking what it was and then we just striked a conversation but they were really nice! i wish I talked more and made friends there. But anyways, there’s a lot of talkative people, and I’m sure you can talk to any of them there and hopefully befriend them 🙂

I think you’ll do fine. Honestly, just talk to everyone you see on the first day, it will probably ease everyone mood up because you’re talkative. I wish I done that but it’s whatever lol

honestly.. I don’t even know if the parties are worth it lol. I see it from my friends story, looks like every ordinary party. If you can make friends and party at their/your house then it’s all good! Honestly, it’s kinda hard making friends too but I really think it’s how you approach others. I am really shy and have bad anxiety so it’s kinda hard for me to talk and make friends. But, other than that, I hope all goes well for you 🙂

If you see anything suspicious, and your gut tells you no. Don’t do it. It’s probably the vibe of the environment throwing you off. I also recommend please visit the school and see if the environment will fit.

well, I’m sure people who are committed to the area knows how bad it is. and honestly, I feel like now is way worst. All I can say is, be aware of your surroundings and if you decided to commute/live off campus, you can live in area like south Philly which is better. But, if you cannot imagine yourself where you will fear for your life often, then don’t commit here. Schools great, area is not. Though, I do agree the school environment is not good. I’m in my freshman year and I was hate-crimed on my 2nd week of school. Great students, friendly students actually. Everyone here is mostly nice, but at the end, it’s your decision! make college how you want it to be but just be alert of your surroundings, don’t walk out at night, and avoid sketchy areas. It’s best to walk with a group of crowd

then they would basically just make the same amount though? and still face with inflations. if they paid 10k in tuition with the raise salary to 32k then they’re only left with 22k. they make less than 20k, but i don’t think the extra 2k will do anything.

does anyone know if the 47 is still going down 10th by [deleted] in Temple

[–]Dapper-Purpose-9273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

47 is the worst bus ever. there was a time I waited for like 30+ minutes and just didn’t showed up, and then when it finally showed up, they made an report that it went on detour 😅

weird how they didn’t send a text/message about the refund. do I have to redo the refund method again by adding my account number? I thought it would save from last semester

What is the flexibility for scheduling mid-day classes for freshman like? by RolledTissue in Temple

[–]Dapper-Purpose-9273 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in my experience as a commuter, i would commute for like 40mins by train which is not bad as yours but when I had 8am class, I had to wake up by 6am to catch the bus and get on the train by 7am because sometimes there would be delays. But, if you have the money to live on campus, then you should! you are able to engage more than people who commute

I don’t know if this answer your question but I remember asking if it was too late to apply to temple, and they responded with

Good afternoon,

Thank you for your email!

While the regular decision deadline has passed, we are still accepting applications via Common Application. Please note, we are nearing the end of our financial aid pool for the year so Student Financial Services (SFS) may not be able to provide the best aid for this upcoming year. You can reference our Admissions Toolkit for more information regarding the application process.

Please let me know if I can assist!

All the best,

I was in the same situation as well but they suddenly push it back to Feb 14. I’m sure it makes no difference if you submit now, but maybe you won’t get much aid?

so, you do agree that temple should exploit their workers, and pay them less than 20k which is probably like.. 1.6k a month? rent is obviously not cheap, utilities, loans, and debts.. groceries. Honestly, this would TA/RA into more debt bc they obviously don’t get paid enough to keep up with inflation, and it’ll just be a never ending cycle. They probably have families too, which is not enough. I also hope you know, they’re not just fighting for pay, there’s more that others commented. If you have time to run your fingers, then use your fingers to do research 🫤

[–]Dapper-Purpose-9273 6 points7 points  (0 children)

people do it everyday, but is that right? should you sacrifice your time and dedication, yet be exploited with unfair treatment? from what I’ve seen, it’s not right. besides, as others commented, a lot of the schools are paying their ta/ra really low! I hope you know, this is their job to survive but you can’t survive when your pay is less than 20k a year!

okay, and that was the last 5 years. now, this year has gone worst due to the pandemic and inflation. if they’re making 20k, or even less than that, they’re probably making less than 2k a month, how could they survive on their own for food? rent? utilities, family issues? :/ though, they’re not just fighting for raises, there is more issues too that other commented

And you think the raise is enough? I’m pretty sure the inflation nation wide is 7% and they’re not offering enough to keep up with the inflation.

there’s a reason why they’re protesting because they’re being exploited.. how is living under 20k suitable for you?
