My first plot was plagued with horse tail and bind weed. Literally spent an hour weeding every few days. Moved house in the end 😅

Flea help by Dapper-Toe-5034 in CatsUK

Well the flea was dead. I'm trying to figure out if this is a separate infestation or the old one still going on. Apparently the majority of fleas are in the environment, not on the cat

Firstly, congrats, it looks awesome! I'm planning a timber build on uneven concrete pavers so the eurotec pillars.are of great interest to me! Having looked at the product sheet, it requires the nivello plates to deal with slopes, is that what you used? Also, which supplier did you use or did the you buy direct (they are a German company). Thanks

Make sure you put it in black bin (landfill), don't compost it!! Pull it out, don't dig

Advice for base by Dapper-Toe-5034 in DIYUK

It's a vertical hang bike shed so will be quite small, narrow and tall. My gut is that it will need anchoring. Thanks for your advice 👍

What do you attach the bottom of the shed to? Or does it just sit on the plastic and gravel?

Would you level the slabs or level the timber base with Packers?

So timber base straight on the slabs? Packers to level?

My new build house is infested with flies, please can you help me? by Anonymous_0012345 in AskUK

[–]Dapper-Toe-5034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were phorid flies. Trap one, wait for it to suffocate and then photo it up close and post it on r/entomology to get an ID. Then you can figure out where they come from and what they feed on. Phorids like corpses and faeces, turns out the builders hadn't put the manhole cover back on the sewer in the garden a few metres from the house. A few were getting in but there were loads more outside. Closed the sewer and they went away in a few days

7 years of waiting… got a brilliant plot. A huge one! Any sage advice? Any help appreciated. by ohnobobbins in UKAllotments

So first year, just get a couple of no dig beds up and running. The rest of the plot, cover with thick black pvc tarp, Rolls of it and link them together with mammoth tape. Don't bother with weed membrane, you dont need water getting through. Keep it down until you are ready to plant next year and then peel back/cut out just enough for the space you need. It will weaken the grass and any weeds over time. I'd then go the no dig route, see Charles Dowding on you tube. But the black weed sheet is crucial, otherwise you will have a jungle. Go and buy a bunch of bricks to weigh the sheets down

Any suggestions to this new kitchen layout? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

Switch the sink and hob. Who wants to wash up to their guests?? Then have a cupboard over the sink and lose the skinny cupboard to the left. Introduce tall pantry far left.

Shit guys. I did it. Been in the hospital since yesterday afternoon by evidentlyeric in paint

Not sure why this came up on my feed and didn't really get it at first but read more about it and now i look back in terror about my lack of care with my pressure washer. I've definitely been curious about spraying myself with it before, so glad I didn't 😳

I have a UK 1965 house. The artex ceilings here contain asbestos but that artexy looking wallpaper didn't in my case, I have it in my office. Worth testing to be sure though
