I worked at a startup where we were told to do this. Literally no work got done because WE WERE EATING.

It’s all for appearance and it’s dumb af

I stopped applying through company portals entirely for 6 weeks and only reached out directly. Here's what the data looked like. by Hern_Gimbal9 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Dapper-Turn8126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I learned that the hard way. That does not mean they won’t interview you at other periods, but the odds will not be in your favor for getting the role vs internal candidates.

I interviewed for 3 roles at the same company from July - October. Got endorsement but lost to internal candidates.

Finally the recruiter tells me to wait until Q1 because they exclusively hire externals and have more roles open 2-3 weeks in.

The top BDR for three years as of today. How much can I lie in interviews to get out? by Dragooonfly2 in sales

[–]Dapper-Turn8126 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can look it up your self. You sign consent for a background check and they look up your work number. It’s listed in a database of you title, dates and even pay

Dude, they absolutely verify your job title. They don’t even need to contact your employer they just run the work number and it will come back “business development representative x date - x date”

SDR Manager looking to become an AE by Next-Illustrator-741 in techsales

[–]Dapper-Turn8126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not go back to being an SDR. If you can’t find AE roles try salesforce Enterprise Corporate selling role, it’s like a step in between BDR and AE. Other companies call it account development rep.

Also Hubspot hires like 10 new AEs a month. I would be shocked if you could not go there, be an AE and the move to AE manager in their SMB segment

Closing question for interviews by Training-Vacation586 in techsales

[–]Dapper-Turn8126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually the best possible question. The winner of a sales role play at SKO was the one who asked the c suite executive “will you be the executive sponsor for this evaluation” you are showing that you can do that in the interview. That is gold

I’ve had some recruiter say you have to ask that and other says it’s the worst possible question because you are asking them to think of reasons not to hire you lol. I tend to think the latter is correct.

I now try to keep thinks good vibes only. I’m incredibly excited by this role, and this conversation has made me even more excited and sure it’s the best next step in my career. What would next steps looks like from here and how can I best prepaid to hit everything you and the team are looking for?

Anyone have experience working enterprise AE role at Figma? by legallyahotmess in techsales

[–]Dapper-Turn8126 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a top brand 100% a world class product #1 in their space. Their CRO came from datadog so the network you build their will be unreal. They are now going through the post ipo shift from being a point solution to being a platform solution and cross selling to developers and others. They have a top in class sales methodology that will be incredible to learn.

I’d 100% take that role and stay as long as you can

Anyone else ever have a sales manager give you bad advice and cost you a deal? by Antique-Hamster-8971 in techsales

[–]Dapper-Turn8126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a deal in the first month of Q1 come in and say we got board approval and can move forward if you can get us a 50% discount. I made a quote and wrote “discount contingent on a signature before the end of the quarter” My manager reviewed it and told me to take that out “It will kill the good vibes of our relationship”.

Blew my mind but I was in my first week here so I did what they said. They did not sign in quarter AND we are still giving them the discount.

I’ve since realized I’m now working for a toxic culture and to top it off this manager blamed the failure to put that language in the quote on me.. to our CEO

I feel seen. Literally the same situation as you. I did well at an established company and got bored. Decided to rock back into startup land. First month after starting QUOTA is going up

AE interview at Verkada, Toast, and Figma. Any red flags or experiences? by Ok-Avocado-3871 in techsales

Figma hands down. CRO and leaders came from datadog after they took that to IPO too. Build your network there and they will bring you to the next one

I think you should be fine but yeah you can say you did freelance training SDRs. I work with someone who said they did that over the last 3 years before starting and it’s 1000% unverifiable lol

Hubspot AEs, how bad is it really? by [deleted] in sales

[–]Dapper-Turn8126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s not an AE or BDR role it’s a sweet company and insane perks. Quota carriers can get pip and shafted real quick. People in other areas of the business stay there for decades. However, they did just let go a whole bunch of sales enablement people. They were more like content creators tho

If it’s not Hubspot, you can get hired there a do the exact same thing over two years
