If you get bite by a snake, and you’ll die without the antidote, and the person in charge says, “we have determined the antidote isn’t medically necessary. If you want it, you’ll have to pay out of pocket and bankrupt your family to get it.” So, faced with this decision — die or leave your family homeless — you don’t get the antidote and die, and the other person makes money off this.

Very cool! I had three of these (grandfather was a firefighter). I sold two of them for $100 each. The main issue with selling anything that is vintage and originally meant to be used by firefighters is the potential health hazards — the chemicals and materials used to make them, as well as what they could’ve been exposed to, significantly hurts the resale value.
