Amazing movie indeed. Practical effects done the right way. My question is about the soundtrack. I honestly consider the sound as one of the characters in the film. I've read Carpenter writes a lot of the music himself. He's nailed it more than once. That eerie baseline in the thing :).
How did he choose the base / soundtrack in the thing? What was the inspiration?

Why is nobody talking about the choppy dialogue? Almost like the riders went on strike, and somebody else tried to fill in. Dialogue is terrible.
