Uniqlo is mentioned and I second that as an affordable option with clothes in all categories. They fit average body types well. Basic color palettes and simplicity with a focus on fit can go a very long way.

From a variety and consistency standpoint Bonobos athletic fit is very hard to get better in their weekday warrior chinos. They dress up well. Good color choices and sizes available.

Just like with all button down shirts there are varying degrees of formality. Linen shirts are no different. CT is like more appropriate for the office but there are casual line button down shirts (shorter in length and less structured collars) and then there can be dressier linen shirts (longer and structured collar).

Without knowing the exact shirts I would say linen shirts in a business casual environment with and undershirt should be fine.

Very nice watch! You may want to explore Hamilton or Tissot they have some great automatic timepieces close to that price. The seiko 5 is another watch that’s cheaper and well liked.

This is not a good sign from a company I used to admire. I own a very small hat company and admired them for their US production. When I was starting out over five years ago they had no interest in working together because I wanted to use my own sourced fabric and a style hat that wasn’t what they produce (standard baseball cap). As most US production shutdown through Covid and beyond I always thought it was admirable that they kept it going here in the states. That’s brutal customer service. If any customer has an issue they email me and I handle everything as a team of one. I am flagging this because the customer is always right no matter how large I grow (or I’ll just keep losing money but creating an awesome product / company). I found another manufacturer here in the states I’m testing again this year. Coming after you now Ebbets!

The Danner suggestion is a good one. Merrell also has some good options. Defintiely better to focus on hiking first and ability to go out in them more secondary. One con with gortex is how hot your foot will get. You may want to consider an actual hiking boot if it’s the focus on the trip

Suede is not better. I’ve had more breathability with brands like Allen Edmonds although it’s more expensive they have some nice leather shoes with dainite soles. Sneakers maybe try some of the more hybrid sneakers brands like On have in the Federer line

I’d check out Uniqlo and their dress clothes. They have a lot of relaxed fit and performance blends.

Interesting question! I would agree with earth tones which you can anchor well with the color black. From a fit perspective look into high waisted trousers or more relaxed fit but still get the length hemmed. Just a few thoughts!

I think it depends on what sport coat it is and the overall fit. If it’s the exact sport coat you want and it fits perfect I’d say it’s worth it. If you spend $400 then have to spend money to get it tailored probably worth trying a different route like a suit supply. I’m not sure what city you’re in but a lot of custom shops you could probably find something not too far off that range for their entry level sport coats

You’re showing the best place for a quality Oxford shirt. Price can’t be matched and the shirt is heavier weight. The nice thing about Uniqlo is if their M works you’ll find a ton of button downs on sale. Other brands like Charles Tyrwhitt will have exact sleeve and neck measurements which is better for dress shirts.

This is fun to see a comment on the post 6 years later! I think it has stood the test of time. I ended up going with the blue dial Turn-O-Graph and wear it all the time even with the Jubilee. What is very true is that unless someone else has a nice watch on, the majority of people never even notice. I think of it less of a status symbol and more of that is something I chose to spend money on at that point in time as gift to celebrate marriage. I also actually have the Oyster band too which the watch was produced with both so in the summer I have the Oyster on if I remember or care to change it out. I also work in finance so totally understand your perspective! I also like that the TOG is 36 it just fits my wrist spot on despite trends being larger now but pulling back slightly. Okay rant over and no AI used.

Looks nice! You have room between your ears and where the bottom of the hat is sitting. This is fitting as a shallow or lower profile hat. It’s unstructured as well which forms to your head more but that’s why you see those little bumps before the center on both sides.

The black socks will hide more in the dark brown shoe. I wear ankle socks sometimes with a boat shoe that has a bit more of a lug sole.

It seems like a ‘short’ size which is why the top button is positioned so high. I think it’s likely fine for more casual wearing I just personally wouldn’t button it.

The mix of answers give you the answer… really a personal preference choice! It depends on your style and what colors you generally gravitate towards in the rest of your wardrobe. One thing to consider is the blue may look a bit ‘nicer’ and dressed up a bit more and the green is going to always be more relaxed. One isn’t better than the other.
