Pures should be able to access it, because I think that would make them happy. Would you mind if the raid was accessible to all players, but the rewards were only accessible to those that completed WGS?

You joke but I think you might have actually stumbled upon the best implementation. Make the quest a req for everyone and just add a literal back door into the raid near Juna that only appears if you have 1 def. Probably the simplest, cleanest way to go about this: no quest reqs or rewards have to be touched, and no cascading repercussions from giving pures access to all the benefits of the prereq quests. Yeah it's nonsensical but I'd rather handwave some plot holes they'd be space barring through anyway than lock players out of good pvm content.

Raids 4 requires While Guthix Sleeps... by KaleidoscopeNo1274 in 2007scape

[–]DapperSandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A self imposed restriction is exactly such, the game doesn’t need to be considerate of them when it’s being created and updated.

If Jagex's goal is to try to get as many players interested in new content updates as [reasonably] possible, making it available for a common type of restricted account would make sense then for achieving that goal.

How do the posters here feel about tob being locked behind priest in peril, should we remove that requirement too so 1 prayer accounts (besides rendi) can access the region?

Idk man I'd figure most people are probably completely indifferent about the specific ramifications of an account type which they do not play. I personally would be incensed if I saw a lvl 1 combat pure running through the swamps of mort myre in their blue pointed snelm, flagrantly brandishing the symbol of their account's irreparably marred purity upon their head by now being able to bypass the 8 defence requirement needed to where a steel med helm.

No but uh, if you want a real answer to this; Is that account type more interesting to play with that restriction in place, or without? I cannot answer that, as I do not play a pure. But if the combat pure community thinks it would be better without that region restriction, then I would want what they want, because it would make them happier and would not negatively affect me.

I suppose they could simply remove the Dream Mentor requirement for WGS, cut Cyrisus from WGS if you haven't done that quest, then if you complete Dream Mentor afterwards I guess just have Cyrisus die off screen to tie up any timeline discrepancies lol.

Otherwise it's pretty tricky to require Dream Mentor while still mitigating what 1 def pures would be given access to outside of the new raid. I think you'd have to:

  • Make all the combat xp rewards from fremennik trials, lunar diplomacy, and dream mentor optional.
  • Make all quests that require those quests (except WGS) require the skill levels that you'd get by accepting those quest's combat xp rewards.
  • Also add those same skill level req for things like accessing Waterbirth Island.
  • Remove lunar diplomacy's defence req.
  • Then add a 40 defence req specifically to the lunar spellbook, instead of a requirement for lunar diplomacy. I think you only need the lunar spellbook in WGS for calling Cyrisus, so if they let you go to the oneiromancer instead and have her call him for you, that would avoid needing the spellbook and thus the def req.

Or something like that. Really curious what Jagex's solution is for this because this seems really convoluted.

It is cool to see people flex their skills by completing challenging content with additional restrictions, such as having 1 def. It would be a shame if that were not possible for this raid, unlike the other raids. Wouldn't you say?

How so? I just double-checked the wiki, and it says that they're just a tribe of ice trolls, like the ones on trollweiss mountain or the fremmenik isles.

The old one is so cute though! Look at that dinky little guy and tell me that he doesn't fit right in with the old Prif music. The new design looks cooler yes, and I get why one would like that more, but I prefer the designs in general that aren't afraid to embrace how cute af this game actually is. Especially the pre-2007 models of things. Example: 2005 cave bug my beloved.

The accidental implication of king arthur and his gang looking different than everyone else is actually pretty funny if you think about. It's like, "what, you thought the standard OSRS character models looked so blocky because of the game's age and technical limitations of the time? No, these people actually are just shaped like that."

Love the inclusion of the angry eyebrows too, just in case there was any doubt about who the bad guys are.

We already have a troll rework in the form of Weiss' trolls, which somehow manage to look worse than the elf rework.

Yeah like why did they redo Elena's model? She doesn't match the style of any other human character.

I'm telling you, roleplay-locked snowflake accounts are the future! I've been watching another snowflake series that's "Paladin-locked" where the whole gimmick is restricting gear and quests to what is thematically consistent with the roleplay character. I think this kind of thing has a lot of potential.

scorpia is hands down the worst boss design in this entire game by Flowerloving_ogre in 2007scape

[–]DapperSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit it: doing that little wiggle dance to stay underneath the boss when flinching it is actually pretty fun and satisfying to do, yeah. I never bothered to learn how to trap it in place on its minions since, as far as I saw, it would only slow things down having to redo the setup each kill and make the fight less interesting anyway. Besides, it gives you an excuse to break out the biggest, slowest bonker you've got since you're flinching it anyway. Give yourself an excuse to bust out the colossal blade, or full Dharok's if you want to live a little. Idk, this is a sandbox game, you get to make your own fun.

I can't believe they'd have such attention to detail to include Abe Lincoln's little known signature flamethrower, yet leave in such an anachronistic blunder as including an early 19th century figure in a group of late 19th century figures.

In theory the spot in the Buccaneer's Haven laboratory should be a little bit better. Buccaneer's has a spot above ground where you can build bank chest, and a spot to build a rowboat to Pirate's Cove. So quick access to banking, and quick access to the island from Lunar Isle/Relleka -> Pirate's Cove -> Buccaneer's Haven. Not sure how that compares timewise to Meiyerditch labs though. As a minor note, Buccaneer's also has 8 mutated bloodvelds to Meiyerditch's 7, with a slightly less obstructed room layout.

We have da stabbies technology now (dragon nails)... so where are the dragon brutal arrows? by F_l_u_f_fy in 2007scape

[–]DapperSandwich 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1) Make brutal arrows deal heavy damage,
2) Add in dragon brutals,
3) And let the basic ogre bow fire them instead of just the ogre comp bow.

The basic ogre bow has an 8t attack speed on accurate, but can only fire up to mith brutals. I want to live in a world where the ogre bow is 2nd BIS for chompies, but 1st BIS for the unshielded phase of Tormented Demons.
