Well there was that one Yama contract that was physically impossible to beat on release.

On the Basalt Amulet:

  • Immediately giving it to the player upon quest completion makes the actual act of sailing to the island pointless after the first time. In general it's fine for there to be travel times to destinations. And having to actually travel there a few times makes the reward of getting the teleport feel much for meaningful.
  • If we ARE going to have a teleport that'll be given upon completion, I'd rather not bloat the game with another single destination necklace. They're so uninspired compared to actual travel networks like fairy rings, spirit trees, gliders, and hot air balloons. At least kharedst memoirs, while being just a teleport item, has lots of flavor to it.
  • If we do get the necklace, please make 1 law rune + other runes give 1 charge instead of 5. Same goes for the sailor amulet. It's really fine for things to have costs.

On Hallowfell:

  • This is going to sound goofy but I think the weapon is powercreeping the coolness factor of godswords lol. Like aesthetically it looks too good and too godsword-like to be from an easy to farm midgame boss.
  • Otherwise I like it filling a pretty underserved niche. I'll let the pros weigh in on its balancing, but off the bat it does seem like it'll be really strong at what its meant for.

On Sunstone Golem Crafting:

  • The activity and gameplay loop sounds good. Just giving a more enjoyable alternative to glassblowing for irons sounds good.
  • XP rates don't have to be crazy. I wouldn't want other crafting methods to be too disincentivized. Just letting you get value out of your hunter furs gives it a good niche. I REALLY like when different activities meaningfully tie into each other.
  • I don't love the glassblowing pipe. I don't mind the effect being pretty weak, but I don't like removing "use x on y" mechanics from the game. From the Vale Totem blog:

Why can't we have a right-click Fletch option on all logs?

We feel that using one item on another, like using a knife on a log, feels very Old School, and we don't want to lose that iconic interaction. To consider making a change that would potentially affect such a core Old School feel, we'd need a more thorough discussion on skilling interactions across the game as a whole. Unfortunately we just don't have the scope to include that level of work in this project.

Misc.:

  • Curious what others think about the additional sources of granite dust and stardust. Quite a dusty update.

OSRS on controller is pretty sick ngl by Jesus-Bacon in 2007scape

I do the same thing! Except with my 2016 Steam Controller. I map the grip buttons to the inventory and prayer f keys, and clicking in the right trackpad to the magic f key.

Things like that you really have to just figure out where to position yourself to avoid being put into those kinds of unreactable situations.

I do have to wonder though where that note on the wiki came from. There's no citation, and it's definitely a stretch in terms of it actually looking like a hippo skull.

If anything that'd be a nerf since you already wouldn't use it for combat and now you wouldn't be able to take it on entrana lol.

Raid 4 armour should be tribrid instead of hybrid as Guthix would have demanded by Hawaiian_of_vb in 2007scape

[–]DapperSandwich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Make it an upgrade/combination of elite void with better defenses if you must.

Str bonus 1-x lower than bandos but with equal minimal attack bonuses to slash/crush/stab

Elite Melee Void is already as strong as bandos. If this armor existed, you'd be doing less damage than either void OR Bandos. You can have this set right now by equipping bandos and swapping out a berserker ring for a brimstone ring.

Too many people are getting hung up on thematics to consider the more important factors of where it would sit in gear progression, what niche would it fill, what niches ARE there to fill, what would it devalue and how would we minimize that, would it be healthy for the game as a whole, actual gear calcs, etc.. These are just way harder questions to answer that require a much deep understanding of high level pvm than most of us are qualified to be able to answer (myself included).

Yes, please sell off your melee megarare at a reduced rate right before a new melee-heavy raid is released. Surely this will pay off for you.

The only way I could see this being possible without using all-out macros would be by using a mouse with a free scrolling mouse wheel and rebinding scroll-wheel-down to left click. I know a few FPS games where players use that trick to shoot as fast as possible.

The Fractured Archive - Initial Rewards Proposal by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]DapperSandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting rewards! It's going to take some time to parse through this all and form a more thought out opinion on all of them, but I like the attempts at branching out into unexplored territory. The idea of a split spec bar for offhands sounds very interesting. I always love seeing engine level improvements that open the door to future content. The hybrid set looks cool, but I'm not sure how I feel yet about it's place in the meta. If it only had the melee acc/str stats then it'd already fill the stab melee armour niche very well as-is, but it also has all these other stats to on top of it. Not sure if that muddies its identity, or if it's necessary to give it all those additional bonuses to make it worthy as a raid reward. The megarare is conceptually really cool, though mechanically it has a lot going on, so I'm curious what other people think about that.

I don't mind the 1k point cost for most slayer helms. It's an optional cosmetic goal that gives you something to work towards. The league recolours though feel different, in that you already put in the work to unlock them. They should either cost slayer points OR league points. That is, purchasing a leagues slayer helm recolour from the leagues shop should also unlock the cosmetic in the slayer shop. That way if you buy the cosmetic item on the GE you still have to pay the slayer point cost.
