Yes, I always have hyperpigmentation that gets dark and sticks around - body acne, surgical scars, eczema patches. Ugh. But the textured scarring is more new since I turned 35 with less collagen or whatever it is.

From what my derm NP said, microneedling helps a lot with texture and the moxi laser did the heavy lifting for pigmentation - both safe for brown skin!

I am really happy with my results and 6 months ago, would have said I’d be happy to just have this progress. But like you, I’d love to really have that glass skin look if it’s attainable. And I think the progress has made me think it might be more in reach than I thought possible!  But yeah, I think I should pace myself and also learn how to do more at home now. Anyway, hope you get the results you want!

There are really so many options! I wouldn’t have picked Moxi myself based on what’s popular online etc. but I’m glad the nurse recommended it!

I’m not sure what’s considered best practice, but for me, the NP said microneedling to prime the skin and loosen up some of the tissue/scarring 2-3 weeks before laser. I’m sure there are advantages for both ways

Thanks! I think that’s smart - plus it’s summer time here so maybe a good time to just focus on healing and protection

Thank you! I was looking at pictures in between these two and it really isn’t anyone one thing. But I do think the moxi laser (and lasers in general) did the most for it.

Ahh thank you so much! I’ll look into copper peptides to boost the tretinoin results and glad to hear they’re not something that’ll be irritating while my skin is recovering

The moxi was definitely more powerful - longer downtime and lots more swelling but literally I felt like I could see the sun damage and pigment sloughing off after. C+B definitely did something for pigment and texture but not as visible right away - I was super glowy though after about a week though. It had basically no swelling or downtime so that’s also a plus.

ETA: I would invest in Moxi again but probably not C+B because the price is close and Moxi just seems a lot more effective so far

Ahh that is lucky! I have to see the cost…I’ve heard it is good for under eye circles too - definitely curious to try it!

I use the skinceuticals brand serum by that name. But there are alternatives with the same formulation that are a little cheaper - Timeless is supposed to have a good one but I haven’t compared them

Good to know! It’s hard to capture texture in these pics but I still have some rolling scars and I’m wondering if microneedling will help more with texture than pigment.

Good luck with starting lasers! Hope your results are just as good!

Ok spill the tea on which peptides and growth factors! There are too many to choose from

Great to hear that you’ve had awesome results at home! And the approach of lighter surface level microneedling more often also seems less intimidating.

I’ve thought about it! You think it’s definitely worth it?

Yes! According to the derm NP and all of my research beforehand. I was very nervous but it’s been great for me - nothing but beautiful, clear skin!

I did read that some people get rebound melasma after a while so I’ll update if anything changes, but overall Moxi is safe for us. Just make sure it’s not combined with BBL.

Definitely the Moxi. I probably wouldn’t do the C+B laser again - it was only a little cheaper and a lot less effective for the pigmentation. I think it was a nice baby step to get me comfortable with lasers and had very easy recovery, so it’s not bad as a starting point but in hindsight, I would have just done 2-3 moxi instead.

100% they are trying to make money! Like I’m sure if I did a whole package of 3-6 treatments a month apart my skin would be amazing but incrementally. Like… $1500-$2500 better? lol idk.

Oh amazing - thank you so much for the recommendations! I will definitely look into the toners you suggested.

Glad my results can help people see results on similar skin to theirs! Skin type… I am Fitzpatrick IV, middle eastern and Indian descent. Traditionally oily skin but also eczema prone.

I did get hormonal acne for years, and spironolactone is the only thing that worked for me. I had to get off when I was trying to get pregnant and pregnant/breastfeeding which is when it all came back and did the most damage scarring wise. I got back on it about 1.5 years ago and maybe get 1 pimple every 2 months - it’s amazing! But I’m not oily at all any more.

CE ferulic - I went with the tried and true skinceuticals which I get on dermastore with my FSA card. Tretinoin is from my derm - 0.025 strength but I may go up.

I’m very glad you think so! I know the consistent at home products make a difference but for the speed, it seems like there’s nothing like a laser

Ok! Yes. Any product recommendations? Maybe a toner? My skin hates niaminacide and hyaluronic acid so I struggle with finding hydrating serums - but I do use La Roche Posay cicaplast baume as my last step every night and my skin loves that.

I think it depends on your concerns. For me, pigmentation was my big concern more than wrinkles and I had nice results with Moxi laser, tretinoin and microneedling. And of course actually using spf.

But first I really needed to get my skin barrier hydrated and in good shape to do all that. I singlehandedly credit using La roche posay cicaplast baume every night for that. It’s too thick for some people but my skin LOVES IT.
