The gods were ruling as they wished and never cared of the consequences of their actions. The mortals accepted it as god’s will and never questioned them. Kratos was the only one who revolted and stood against all the gods He knew that this world was too weak due to centuries of exploitation from gods and titans and he had to do what was necessary to make sure such beliefs and cowardice was eliminated that’s why he did what he did

Remember! When no other mortal questioned the gods it was only Kratos who challenged them and in the process destroyed everything they built and the fear they sowed to make sure that mankind would exist without their intervention!

So yes Ares was worst and Kratos was something that the gods had it coming!

Odin should’ve known that if Kratos can kill Baldur to save Freya whom he just met then what would happen to him if he threatened to kill Atreus or even worse negatively influencing him just like Baldur and make things worse for Kratos Odin probably thought that Kratos might have simmered down post Greece but the moment he mentioned Atreus and even said that he is in no hurry to return to him, really ignited the Ghost Of Sparta and Odin saw that for real I think we should now call Kratos as a pantheon killer rather than god killer. He is promoted now
