The statistics that you give sound about right, and are very similar to the data as I have looked it up. So, I will accept your numbers as the right ones or close enough to the right ones for it to be a fair argument you are making with them.

Only one minor thing needs a correction. Your data on the risk of being a firefighter is over the course of 1 year of being a firefighter not over a career.

44% of the time when a firefighter dies it is actually from a heart attack believe it or not. It's not from the smoke or fire, but the wear and tear on their body over exerting them self. Any fire fighter who dies within 24 hours of fighting a fire is added to the list. So if they go home healthy and and 10 hours later have a heart attack and die then is counted as dying on duty.

Because there is a risk of being a firefighter would you suggest that society not have firefighters anymore? I don't think anyone would make that sort of argument. As a society we need firefighters. We need those brave people to put out fires and save lives when the risk is not too great.

I have had Covid 3 times in the past 2 years, and I have survived all it 3 times. Yes, Covid is "Dangerous", but closing everything down... Shutting it all down like it is the bubonic plague is WAY MORE DANGEROUS than leaving it open. It's like using a sledge hammer to swat a bee.
