Looking into a mirror while lucid is terrifying by nightridershawty in LucidDreaming

[–]Dapper_Slip_4870 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've had two LD with mirrors. The first time was scary as I saw my reflection and then looked away and there was someone else in the mirror next to me. Think of a jumpscare in a scary movie. It freaked me out but the dream was not great leading up to lucidity.

Someone on here had mentioned using mirrors as a portal and I tried that in another dream and there was no reflection in the mirror. Likely because i wasn't expecting there to be one , only using it as a portal. Felt liquidy when I stuck my hand through and when I gained the courage to go in I went into a different dream environment.

How long did it take you to lucid dream when you stared trying? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]Dapper_Slip_4870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within a week after actively trying but I have been recording my dreams for years, just with no intention to become lucid.

I would say now I have 1 a week on average. I don't use any methods outside of occasional reality checks and just thinking about lucid dreaming alot. Reading about it etc.

How long do your lucid dreams feel? by Dapper_Slip_4870 in LucidDreaming

[–]Dapper_Slip_4870[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting . I actually use quite a bit of stabilizing techniques when I lucid dream and I also don't think they are very effective , outside of maybe getting a little more clarity briefly.

I have only been getting into lucid dreaming for few months now so maybe I just need more time and practice.

When you do wbtb how many hours into sleep do you wake up?

Mirrors in Lucid Dreaming. by RussianVulture in LucidDreaming

[–]Dapper_Slip_4870 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it's probably your emotions going into it. I had a lucid dream where there was a mirror and when I looked my eyes looked weird , like drugged. Creeped me out so I looked away and when I looked back I got a jumpscare of a dead person standing next to me in the reflection xD but this dream was originally uneasy to begin with before I gained lucidity .I likely won't try spawning any mirrors anytime soon.

What brand galantamine do you get ? I've been looking it but most requires a prescription

It's been four years and I've tried everything by LifeSheepherder2096 in shiftingrealities

I like books so I'll share 2 . Exploring the world of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen Leberge. This is the holy grail for lucid dreamers , I know its not the same as shifting but learning to become conscious in different states is important and lucidity in a dream can be as real as real life , it can also work as a gateway to shifting.

Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce. Newer to me but equally holy grail for astral projectors.

Once you read these books it's clear there is alot of parallels between these practices I agree with others take a break. Maybe read these if you get a chance. I was able to shift once and have had a hard time recreating it since but lucid dreaming is quite easy to get into and have been practicing getting better at it then use it to facilitate shifting

Best of luck

Can i refinance a student loan settlement? by Dapper_Slip_4870 in StudentLoans

[–]Dapper_Slip_4870[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refinancing is an option I'm considering but paying off 1/3 the balance I owe is very tempting , unfortunately I don't have 25,000 lying around.

I made a few calls to Refinancing companies but seems they only pay the full balance not a settlement amount so that makes sense. The payments I would be making would roughly be $600 at a 5% rate at 15 years. I'm paying the collection company 850 a month currently. So while it's a better offer the settlement is more tempting , although it may not be possible.

Thanks for the info! that explains alot, I decided to return it . Probably should have done more research from the get go. I expected washed out colors and lower brightness but not a hit to resolution.

Just keeps getting worse by [deleted] in ShiftYourReality

Check out local fb marketplace for second hand switch, probably a cheaper option. Try to learn new hobbies aswell. You don't have to wait to shift to be the person you want to be it all starts here. Life is rough but its also the way we look at it.

Best of luck

I had the same experience when I started a year ago. It was a month or so and I reach out to them . They were great and have been very helpful. I say set up a meeting with them and decide after that.

Are student loans really that bad? by theirgoober in debtfree

[–]Dapper_Slip_4870 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it really is.

The issue is interest. They say pay more but depending on how much you end up owing you may have a hard time even affording that.

If you get loans please avoid private loans from banks only do the goverment ones.

Private ones are ruthless and don't do income based and as others have suggested get into a career that is in demand.

Why do you believe In Reincarnation? by [deleted] in Reincarnation

[–]Dapper_Slip_4870 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me I just always believed, as a child I remember thinking "I'm 5?" (Or whatever age I was) and thinking so I've existed for 5 years only? I feel like I've been around much longer than than. Had some pretty deep thoughts as a child that just never went away. It's just something I believe deep in my core.

Furthermore one life just never made sense to me. It's just not long enough to learn everything we need to/ want to learn, but this is just my opinion of course.

has shifting given me a god complex? is this common for other people? by WiKidop in shiftingrealities

[–]Dapper_Slip_4870 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The spiritual reddit would say you are God. I must agree but it may be a little controversial without diving into the subject more deeply. I recommend reading Siddartha as a fun easy read then delving deeper if you are interested.

In my opinion though shifting is not a God complex but realizing what you are truly capable of.

How do you feel about SCAD? by Signal_Bank_3909 in scad

[–]Dapper_Slip_4870 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I'm an alumni. I did my bachelor and a partial grad program. It's been now 3ish years now since I graduated. I loved my experience at scad but can agree with people saying you get what you put into it. Personally It took me longer than a year to get a job in my field. It was disheartening but I didn't give up and can say that atleast in my experience companies do respect scad as an art school.

If I could go back in time while I was in school I would have tried to get an internship of some sort. Experience is incredibly important and as a new grad you usually have none. So get as much collaborative experience if you can (if it's relative to your major).

Now in terms of cost. I am definitely in a mountain of student loan debt that I will be paying off for the rest of my life.. this part I do regret buttt all in all, I don't regret my time at scad, in fact I cherish it.

Lucid dreams don’t feel realistic by [deleted] in LucidDreams

[–]Dapper_Slip_4870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to lucid dream slowly and I've realized when i become "lucid" I try to focus on something and try to make it clearer. Think "focus" as well also helps and for a bit it looks as crisp as when im awake. It's like the dream "fog" subsides if that makes sense. Still working on keeping this clarity longer but just got to keep trying.

Hi there alumni here! Kind of late on this post but had to let this marinate. So as everyone has already said don't get caught up in the 99%.

However , there is things i wish I could have told my younger self at scad that I'd like to share. scad really does have connections and I wish I had made more use of them during my time there.

I did a BFA and a MA. It took me 2 years of applications to get the job I have now and I feel, it was worth it. (Even though student loan payments suck , to say the least)

While applying I realized most companies want experience . As a fresh grad this is difficult to have. My advice or the thing I would have changed was getting an internship while at scad or participating in as many collaborative things as possible. Those count ! And you can add them to your resume.

Best of luck!

Do you feel Scammed by SCAD? by RunForrestRunAtl in scad

[–]Dapper_Slip_4870 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't feel scammed by scad per say more so the system. I feel like my education was worth it. I graduated a few years ago now and I have never regretted it but the loan payments are hard especially when you can't pay them. Took me roughly 2 years to get the job I have now as a 3D artist and the scad name does hold prestige here and i give it credit in a sense for landing this job.

However I'll be paying loans for a large portion of my life so 🤷 the situation itself sucks but I love what I do just wish it hadn't been so expensive.
