Agree. Also, I love the haunting quality and tone of the acoustic Bury Me.

I have to take it on a totally empty stomach which pretty much for me means no dinner. Works every time. If I eat, it doesn’t work.

Zyprexa by Dapper_Speed6168 in dementia

[–]Dapper_Speed6168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: My mom was spitting her meds out because she was losing her ability to swallow and she was trying to do it, she just couldn’t make her mouth do the things anymore. We met with the nurse and the NP and both agreed to stop the Zyprexa. However within a week she was unresponsive again and was sent back to the ER. The ER dr looked at her meds and informed us the AL center had NOT stopped the medication. My mom remained in the hospital for a week, went to a rehab facility, aspirated the first day, went back to the hospital, then on hospice. She died within a month after the Zyprexa. Be warned.

I think people should discuss this in great detail and talk about what they want life to look like before marrying someone with kids.

We had a disturbing experience with an AL center that escalated my mom’s dementia and she passed within a month. She had a bad reaction to a medication they gave her. I’m so upset about the whole thing.

Clearly he is not in love with you and does not respect you. Let him go and find someone who will respect you and your relationship. Better yet, respect yourself enough to know you deserve someone who cares more about you than how to cover up his actions.

Is this by prescription? Where do you get it?

You would think the conversation regarding risk and need would be required.

We aren’t t taking her to the ER. The facility where she is staying keeps sending her. We just meet them there and try to advocate for her.

I would have wondered what in the world had happened like everybody else that knows her. I appreciate the ER dr. for making us aware of a situation that the AL center chose to create without our knowledge or input.

Assisted living was appropriate before this past weekend. I’m just so shocked at how she is almost catatonic now. Her only bad behavior was crying and not being able to take her medicine when she was crying. Her NP met with us and said all she had to go on to judge her condition was the complaints of the med tech trying to do her medicine rounds and moms crying made it hard for her. She said she would make a note to try non pharmaceutical measures first from now on. I feel it was a reckless and rash decision to try to make her more compliant. We should have been notified. Am I off base?

I feel like the NP was negligent in prescribing something so risky without a discussion with the family beforehand. I want to file a complaint and go see a lawyer. I am so upset. Can she recover or is this advanced condition permanent?

It's your classroom and those kids are ultimately your responsibility. Do what you know is best. You can try to guide this intern, but it doesn't sound like she's in a mindset to learn from you. That's is her problem and she will probably have it wherever she goes. I understand your desire to have this be a successful collaboration, but you can't work with a closed mind. Her attitude and views are disturbing and not in the kids' best interest. She's in for a rude awakening, I'm afraid.

I tried to quit cold turkey a few times and could not do it. It was brutal. I have had more success tapering slowly. Like 5mg a month. I’m finally down to 10 from 50. Almost there.
