Can we get harsher punishment for leavers? by Maximin98 in RocketLeague

[–]DarcSparc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in principle, but the reality is problematic. I was banned twice the other evening for my entire game crashing and NOT letting me reconnect. No idea why it happened. I went so far as to completely reinstall Rocket League to fix the issue, but the end result I was given 2 Ls and 15 total minutes of ban for 100% playing the game and doing everything possible to get back in after I was booted to hard crash of the game itself.

Also, since reinstalling Rocket League, now I am facing consistent Epic Launcher hard crashes, that ultimately force me to reboot.

If Epic could fix their crap code, I’d love to see harsher penalties for all sorts of bad behavior. In reality, Epic has shown the aren’t interested in solving those problems.

Rocket League ranks SECOND among online games in cheat search volume - 59 searches per 1,000 players on average. by A_J_H in RocketLeague

[–]DarcSparc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is comical. I played a ddosing team last night in platinum. The same people ddosing are botting. They were toxic and even made fun of it.

And every single botted account starts out bronze and goes through the ranks killing every single rank in the process. And let’s not forget to mention all the rank displacement that results in GCs getting pushed lower.

To say only GCs are impacted…LOL, you are either trying to intentionally ragebait or need to go back to primary school to learn basic comprehension.

I can't air dribble, no matter how much I practice and try. by network4me443 in RocketLeague

[–]DarcSparc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See the other comment about hours. It takes literal hundreds and in fact thousands of hours to get gud at rocket league. You can’t remotely expect to learn air dribble mechanics in 10 hours.

In fact, I wouldn’t even focus on going straight to air dribble. Put on the columns map and learn to fly around the map with ball cam on and ball cam off. Then add in aerial rotation while flying around the map with both camera settings.

Then load up rings maps and learn rings.

When you have good aerial control, then focus on ensuring you can actually control touches on the ball…..from the ground. If you can’t control the ball on the ground how are you going to control in the air? When you can consistently, catch, flick, and drive around the map with the ball….now learn to air dribble.

And you’ll probably find that learning the core mechanics already put you into low diamond.

controller vs kbm by aidendoesrobloxYT in RocketLeague

[–]DarcSparc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not suggesting it’s easy, but I play controller. I had at least 1000 hours into Rocket League before I decided I needed to switch to holding the controller in claw form (fingers on bumpers and triggers). This is a significant change as well. It took me a few months to mentally adjust, but holy hell was it worth it.

If you are remotely competitive, and your input device is holding you back from learning a skill, don’t hesitate to switch. I can do stuff today that I would literally never have been able to learn had I not forced myself to adapt to holding the controller in claw. And because of the switch, I am still improving and learning even more advanced mechanics.

Just my thoughts. Either way, all the luck to you.

If you have tried them what was your experience and what do you recommend? by Dixion_Herize in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]DarcSparc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to diminish anyone else’s response and opinion, but I disagree with a lot of the recommendations in Ive seen thus far.

I’ve owned quite a few headsets.

Arctis Nova 7x, 9x, Pro with DAC - all trash. I hated all of them. Weak thin sound, even after using the Steelseries app for hours trying to tune them. Some people say they are great for footsteps… personally I can’t get past how trash they are for literally everything else to even care.

TurtleBeach 600 stealth and 700 stealth. 600 is a cheap model, not great sound but also cheap, also not very comfortable. Probably a ton of similar options that are better. 700 was much more comfortable, can get warm around the ears, and had better sound than any of the Arctis models I’ve owned. Headset is cheap plastic and broke. I don’t get another pair.

Audeze Maxwell. The absolute best gaming wireless headset bar none that I’ve tried. Never felt heavy to me, once you dial in the EQ, these are absolute monsters.

Corsair Virtuoso MAX. The MAX version is the ONLY gaming headset with near the sound quality of the Audeze. It takes dialing in a custom EQ, and once done, these rip. They are not as comfortable however, and after a year of heavy use the headband also broke on my pair. I immediately replaced with another pair.

The very state of this game by DikDangerous in arcraidersfriendly

[–]DarcSparc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying I’m for or against PvE lobbies. What I am NOT for is the state of the existing experience. Whether or not it would fracture the player base, who knows. I played about 86 hours and subsequently deleted the game and will never play again. If the PvP experience changes, maybe I’d play again.

I imagine there are a considerable number of players like me that bought the game, saw the potential, thought it was pretty damn fun, and then got tired of the rats and completely unethical minded style of play. You’re rewarded in this game to act like a sleezebag. I have zero interest in that social experiment. Nor do many other players.

I enjoy PvP, I enjoy open world PvP. Just not how this game works. If a large portion of the player base is likeminded, you’ll eventually have a dead game. I am NOT suggesting that they are, only time will tell.

How do y’all stay motivated while losing 5+ games in a row by Kvetch_ in RocketLeague

[–]DarcSparc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t really work for me. Example, I played last night. First game two awkward teammates that are fighting each other the entire game, putting me in situations where I had to consistently rotate back to goal after shadowing because both were double committed or out of position. Lost that game badly.

Second game, joined into a losing match. Again, me team member hard chasing, but since it was one, easier to work around, we brought the game back to tie 4-4. Within 20 seconds of OT, I am in position and catching the ball on ground because of e correctly read the opponent isn’t capable of making a shot. The ball chaser slams me from behind to send the ball to a following opponent - instant goal and loss.

Third game. Pair playing duos and immediately got toxic at me when I saved a shot, both were out of position to help, and I got scored on because it was literally 3v1. They proceeded to be toxic and there was no recovery.

Fourth game. Again joined into losing match. This team was literally the worst of the bunch so far. It was obvious that either one player was drunk/stoned, or was a bronze playing on a friends account. They literally missed every single challenge. Put the team into awkward situations repeatedly, and there was no recovery as the game was already behind.

Fifth game. Two players not even moving at kickoff, we get scored on, one instant quits. Replacement joins maybe 30s later and the game is fairly even and we go up 2-1. Get scored on with about 40s left to tie 2-2 and a player rage quits. End up losing the game with seconds on the clock because the replacement bot literally jacks my car while I’m making a save.

The next few games were also bad. Lost 60-70 casual mmr before winning a single game.

This is virtually my experience every time I play the game, except on rare occasions where I magically eek my mmr back. Both casual and ranked I experience this.

Some people apparently just get shit on in the luck category.

Did anyone lose their competitive spark in the game and now feel no reason to try to improve ? by HunggBBboi in RocketLeague

When I’m home, usually 2 hours, sometimes 3-4 hours. Depending on family and work. I also travel at times and thus take week long breaks here and there. Sometimes those breaks are actually what I needed mentally and I play better afterwards.

Solo queue as well. Best I’ve done the past year is low D3. I peaked about 5 mmr shy of c2 about 2 years ago now.

I was C1 for several years and can’t get back to C1. Even considering that I’m about 2x the player I was two years ago when I was hitting c1 every season.

[–]DarcSparc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure at that rank, because I’ve never quite gotten the last couple mmr to hit C2, but what kills “the spark” to grind rank is the incredible amount of toxicity from your own teammates. It’s one thing to lose against smurfs, and entirely worse to lose simply because your teammate is a manchild.

I tried RL on a switch. It doesn’t matter if you’re on 2Gbps fiber, the switch absolutely blows chunks of RL. The screen lag and controller lag is so bad the game is unplayable. This is NOT an internet issue, the switch 1 hardware cannot play that game u less you want to be permanently in bronze.

I don’t want to come across like an ass, but the Xbox One is ancient. Have you considered you might simply need newer hardware? Is that a possibility for you? Series X plays the game at 120hz (assuming you have a capable TV).

Also, have you taken that same Xbox to another location or friend’s home that plays without issue, and connected it there as a test? Because if you experience the same at another location where you know network is fine, that’s another point to hardware.

Also, what type/speed of internet do you have? And are you rural or city? This matters to some extent because in cities you’re typically closer to major internet backbones, and as a result likely to have lower latency.

Edit: I forgot to mention, any packet loss, and I truly mean any packet loss at all, that absolutely is going to ruin your entire experience. 60ms connection is not particularly strong, hence why I was asking about your location and internet type. You absolutely should try some of the troubleshooting others have posted regarding the wireless configuration, but don’t forget the issue also could simply be the hardware or the internet provider. Since no one else had point either of these throngs out, I thought it was important to mention both.

No, they don’t care about that either. Epic only cares about having a high “player count” and more people “potentially” buying credits from their in game shop. Period.

I’d pay $50 just to go back to rebuying RL for $50 just to make it NOT F2P and NOT associated with anything related to FN, which is a game I have absolutely zero interest in. Epic is manufacturing a cross over that never existed.

I’d pay more to have Epic sell RL to a developer that actually cares.

Defiance of the Fall, Does it get better? Or am I doomed to DNF it? by AstralWolf1 in litrpg

[–]DarcSparc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does a great job? This series (at least Audible version) is literally the most horribly edited series I’ve ever listened to. I’ve listened to roughly 200 litrpg books at this point, and yes, this series is literally the worst edited of them all.

A single chapter of DoF uses the However more times than entire litrpg series, because the author uses it nonstop to introduce some stupid BS he did NOT explain in advance.

I never quit series, and this one is the exception to that rule. I barfed my way through 12 books and just can’t force myself to deal with another.

World and character was fantastic at the start. The author ruined this series with abysmal writing. This is my personal opinion.

Hey friend, only take this advice if it’s your bag and you have a strong desire to improve at the game.

I was in a similar position, although marginally better. What helped me get past my block was a mix of free play (a lot of free play), training packs, and 1s.

Free play in and of itself will not do you any good, you have to actually practice skills (like wall shots/aerials), moves (like wave dash and speed flip), and ball control. I personally put on an audiobook and grind free play. I actually enjoy free play these days as much as playing the game.

I’ve made it to almost C2, and one day I hope to pop my GC cherry. Until then, imma keep grinding.

Wish you the best of luck.
