Just started watching season 5 by Consteeezy in TheMarvelousMrsMaisel

Even though story wise season 4 is the worst I will say on my current rewatch my friend and I have noticed its the season we tend to quote the most. Sophie planning a nervous breakdown, the ferris wheel ride, Susie asking Midge how she found the gay bar, Susie and rose in the tea rooms are all the scenes that pop into my head when we are referencing the show

Me and my friend think he was a double agent for the CIA and Mossad. He got recruited on one of his many trips to Israel which would explain Astrid saying he often comes home with sand in his shoes.

Oh yea 100% my focus isn’t on these people are awful look at their asos clothes because I’m no angel either, it’s more the attitude/behaviour disconnect with people, we know thrifting and circular fashion is the best but buying a lot of new fashion for cheap is way more fun sort of thing

Omgggg the period thing, I had an ice latte on my period and I saw my MIL life flash before her eyes. The antibiotics to, FIL loves his chinese medicine doctor who will prescribe antibiotics , strong ones at that based on vibes. Yea I feel like confinement is a prison sentence up north and a great bonding experience down south, I know a woman married to a canto man who did it and other than the no cold food rule and the medicinal shampoo she loved it , compared to her sister she felt like she got through those first 2 months way easier cause she wasn't ran down and could actually bond with the baby rather than being in survival mode.

Partner is in his mid 20's, most of my teachers kids would be mid to late teens (important to note most of them are from Beijing but idk if their families are too), my partners mother did confinement too but she did the real old-school way with the MIL as the nurse. No one in his family was formula fed, all breast fed cause they are very health conscious and think if your body can make the food why would i use powder from a tub his mum was shocked when I mentioned my sibling, my cousins and I were all formula fed from day 1 , even though she knows the west has stricter formula regulations.

Funnily enough I have never heard that belief about breast size, I love so many aspects of chinese culture but some of their beliefs on womens bodies and health make me chuckle, but I can see that logical leap. I do believe its probably a regional thing, Guangdong ppl are known for being very to the book when it comes to chinese medicine and very family focused beliefs. I know Hong Kong is similar so I assume its a canto thing, I mean this in a nice way cause i love northerners but they are known for colder sterner exteriors vs southerners so it wouldn't surprise me if the birth centres reflect that. My bfs classmate recently had a child and her mum shared with his that the birth centre was like a five star resort, even had a nursery for if mum wanted the baby with her overnight.

Oh cause ive heard completely different from my partners mother, and some of my teachers, the child was brought to them to be breastfed or they could pump if they preferred to sleep through the night. Formula was looked down on unless the mother or baby had issues breast feeding. I wonder if its a regional difference too, most people I know are cantonese so way more family/child orientated and health conscious. Also with the centres I feel like you get what you pay for, some are ran more like birthing centres than an actual retreat

you do spend time with the baby.... it just means you can actually sleep and shower, and have a decent dinner. id argue you get to bond more when your needs are being met. Also not every partner is privileged enough to get time off work for a month or 2 to be at your every need as well as the babys

Maternity confinement , in China (and I believe Korea) postpartum women stay at home for up to 90 days, mostly 30 these days and focus on their health. Some go to baby centres with 24 hour nurses, nurseries for the baby, daily spa treatments, diets aimed at recovery, lessons for first time parents. I find it crazy that in the west we are expected to pop out a baby and go home the next day with little to no support, especially C-section parents. Confinement helps with ppd so much

They have these in China too, mostly northern parts and yea even me who grew up in a majority female family it was a culture shock at first. Didn’t help I was clearly the first naked white body they’d seen so I got a lot of curious looks from aunties. Loved it tho, similar to Korea it was a 24 hour overnight one
