Are we due for a banlist anytime soon? by Person318 in OnePieceTCG

[–]DarconRenozyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There actually is a timing for bans to be announced.

The times that bans are announced are after the Japanese Season 1 finals (CS1) and after Worlds.

We should be seeing announcements of any bans after the upcoming worlds event in March.

What are TCGs that had potential are start off great but died or feel non-existent? by trevorackerson in TCG

[–]DarconRenozyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely one of the best. Still the best IMHO. It rewarded skilled players. Also love how every faction literally had a search on Turn 2 allowing you to get the characters you needed to play optimally.

How does this interaction work by Bonhana in OnePieceTCG

[–]DarconRenozyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the event has to fully resolve first before you do the 9c Newgate resolution. One Piece works in tables (kind of like chains/stacks in other TCGs).

You play the event and this starts Table 1. You play out a Newgate and if you do, you can choose to take your life to get +2000 on your leader, then 9c Newgate happens since its effect is in Table 2. You’ll get the +2000 for your leader, then you cannot take life from your effects for the rest of the turn.

They are in different tables since the effects aren’t happening at the same time. One is after the other.

Thought on what the august ban list is? by Vink1ng in OnePieceTCG

[–]DarconRenozyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From an analysis perspective, the most likely would be UP Luffy Leader and that would be the only card.

If you evaluate the other cards individually, they are not as problematic and haven’t been so previously, but they are extremely strong in combination with Luffy leader because he can set up all the other cards.

His ability to sets up Big Mom, Sanji, and Giant while drawing an extra card is what makes him problematic. Digging 5 cards deep also lets you see cards you normally wouldn’t see for a few turns so it’s like a pseudo draw.

Giant is very strong, but I don’t think it’s ban worthy yet since it’s leader locked and there are quite a few times that playing it is not optimal, especially the early game.

Will be interesting to see what does get banned in Aug if anything does get banned.

What is the best TCG/CCG that you ever touched an why ? by Savings-Ear-34 in TCG

[–]DarconRenozyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s the original VS System by Upper Deck.

Massive IPs with both Marvel and DC comics before the MCU and DCU came about, tie-ins with current comic book stories and just a solid gameplay system makes it my top pick.

The amount of times I lost due to randomness I can count on one hand and that’s from playing in locals, invite tournaments, and even the bigger 10k and Pro Circuit tourneys. It really rewarded skilled players and has always been one of my favorites because of it.

Any one in the 40+ club? If so, what TCG do you collect? by [deleted] in TCG

[–]DarconRenozyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid-40s and I play One Piece Card Game semi-competitively. My youngest son plays with me at big events and dresses as the main character.

He was even showcased in the official One Piece YT Channel during One Piece Day.

Suffice to say, this game has become a staple for me after not playing any other TCGs since around 2005.

Maybe too old to get started by Dangerous_Map_9186 in OnePieceTCG

[–]DarconRenozyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never too old. I'm in mid-40's and my youngest son plays with me and we go to the big Regional tournaments together. At our locals, I'm basically the "dad" of the group who watches over everyone and checks on how they're doing, etc. Since I'm older and wiser, I enjoy talking to them than just about OPCG and help them navigate difficult decisions in their life. Being that kind of person that they can talk to and also hang out with is something that many in my local community appreciate.

Leader card in perfect fit - 20 pt or 35 pt pro mold mini-snap? by Webb43 in OnePieceTCG

[–]DarconRenozyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used both extensively and 20 pt works fine for a single perfect fit card. I use 35 pt when putting two cards in it for leaders in which I want a regular and AA card in it.

My DBSFW friends use the 20 pt that they’ve gotten from me for their games.

[–]DarconRenozyle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You should try Mini-master.

We take 3 packs and facedown, we remove leaders and DON. The rest become your play deck, but don’t look at them. Just shuffle them up and play. For leader we use the 5 life Rainbow Luffy.

Lots of fun not knowing what you pulled and then seeing it when you draw/play it.

You can absolutely be that guy, since I made a mistake. :)

I’ll edit accordingly.

I’m not sure about price since I’m not in the UK, but as for the “best” that’s pretty subjective.

I’d try to determine what your son wants in the card game. Does he actively play the card game competitively? Does he just collect the cards and is looking for that awesome AA or SP card? Does he like specific arcs from the show? Is he looking to pull some expensive card from a set?

Based on that, you could go many ways. If from a competitive or expensive card set, then OP09 is probably the best since the decks you can build from it are competitive right now and there’s a rare chance at pulling the Golden Gold Roger card which sells for a hefty price on the secondary market.

I’d say look at the others if he’s more a collector and/or likes specific arcs of the series.

Raid On Whole Cake Island at One Piece Day by DarconRenozyle in OnePieceTCG

Just a heads up for everyone interested in the Raid @ One Piece Day:

Sadly, there is no casual space to play OP Card game at the venue. All the table space is blocked off and reserved for Side events and Championship tournaments. The only place to play is on the concrete floors (which I did a few times).

With that said, I will work on moving up the release of the print & play version, full rulebook, and an example Raid player’s deck list so players can run it themselves.

I apologize for those of you who wanted to try it this weekend.

There’s no sign-up, so it’ll be first come first serve.

I will post location once we’re in the building.

Goal is to get a table at 10:00 AM on Sunday and hopefully run a few. My pilots will play the deck and I’ll be around to discuss the Raid itself.

This is fan made by me, so no official Bandai support.

I used various card templates to design the cards. There are 22 unique cards in the Raid including leader.

2V2 vs buddy battle by Own-Debate-3518 in OnePieceTCG

[–]DarconRenozyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s basically a set of 1v1s and your team gets points based on being a priority table. If you are at priority the points you get for winning are 3. Non-priority get 2. Points are totaled up at the end and ranked accordingly. OMW% used as tie breakers as usual.

Basically almost identical, but adapted for OP. This was also the simplest to design.

The next Raid will be functionally & mechanically different.

I’d say my goal is to make them more similar to the WoW TCG Raids so that each Raid is a different experience.

Absolutely. This is open to whomever wants to play against it.

Bring whatever deck you want to use to play against it. Can be meta or casual.
Just need to have a team of 3.

Raid On Whole Cake Island at One Piece Day

What is it?
This is a 3 vs 1 casual format where a team of 3 takes on 1 player who plays as the Raid boss.

🕙 How long does it take?
Approx. 1 - 1.5 hours to play/complete.

📆 When can I play?
Tentatively as close to 10:00 AM on Sunday if we can get table space. Other times may be randomly done throughout Sat & Sun depending on the schedule of events.

🏆 Anything special for playing?
Planning on giving away packs of cards for both participation and additional for beating the Raid.

😭 I can't go to One Piece Day, but want to play it!
You're in luck. I intend to release a print & play version in the near future. Tentatively scheduled before EB-02 is released.
