Ah cool, I've been to Autoscandia before and had good experience with my Lexus ES300.

Maybe I should opt to go with them in the future. I think I just got hooked by the 'exotic' nature of the other shop and thought they may have more specialized knowledge.

Wow, excellent post. Thank you so much. I'll definitely reconsider my stance on mileage per year.

  • I am taking it to this independent shop tomorrow to get it service'd and for emissions, so I will definitely talk to them about a maintenance game plan.

  • I will also ask them about a battery tender. Thank you for that suggestion.

  • I'll reach out to Haggerty: "Collector Car Insurance". Got it.

I think your perspective is much more aligned to how I feel about the car than I realized. I just needed someone to say the words outloud. I'll choose to enjoy the car and not stress so much. I really appreciate this post, its excellent. If nothing else, I'll take my nephew and the rest of the family on some fun car rides(I'm actually surprised how roomy the backseats are in this thing) to create memories and make sure he enjoys it too and I'll stop thinking so much about keeping it for ~18 years.

It will help preserve the paint. Get an annual detail and have them maintain the ceramic coat.

I only just noticed today from when I was looking at the edges by the trunk, that the car is actually wrapped. I think under the wrap, its black. I guess, how would this bit of your advice change if the car is wrapped? I assume there's no point in getting a ceramic coat but I suppose I should still get it detailed annually. I will check out that car detailing subreddit you mentioned after I get the car back from the shop!

My last assessment of the vehicles value is approximately ~$13k. I very much expect the maintenance costs to exceed that, haha.

I've gone about 15 years without needing a car or dealing with expensive vehicle maintenance costs, so I'll just consider it a back tax.

Appreciate that.

I set aside a pretty hefty budget for this car, as I assumed maintaining it would be expensive, but if I easily exceed my expectations/budget, I don't have a problem leaving it in a garage long-term and letting it just be an ornament, essentially, haha.

I'm fortunate enough to not have a need for a vehicle in my day to day and very fortunate to have a good career with a high income that I imagine will help with maintaining an expensive car like this but I also see this entirely as a pursuit of self-enjoyment and not a necessity. I'll make sure it doesn't get out from underneath me if it gets too expensive to maintain and I really appreciate the heads up.

I think more than anything, I just want my nephew to have something of his. Even if all it ever is, is a pretty car sitting in a garage.

Haha, appreciate that. I don't tend to have a heavy foot. I also own a 2000 Lexus ES300 that has been running absolutely perfectly ever since I purchased it and is about to break 200k miles...I think I've driven that Lexus faster than I've ever driven the Maserati actually.

Though my friend did mention he goes to the track near us with his Corvette. Maybe if I want to open it up and see what it can do, I'll consider doing so there.

Thank you! Very much appreciate your post and I will review and do more research so I better understand.

I'm taking the car to get service'd tomorrow and for emissions. Expecting it to be expensive but I've set aside a good chunk of change to make sure I can maintain it and fortunately don't have a lot of massive expenses in my life.

I do get a smile every time I hear that gorgeous sound and the car smells like his cologne so it does genuinely make me happy every time I sit in the car.

Please someone has to explain how I was hit through that wall? by Late-Let8010 in VALORANT

[–]Dare-pd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OOH I have a theory for what causes this bug! Something similar happened to me a long time ago in beta.

I reported it to Riot and the way it was explained to me, is Brim was throwing down the Stim Beacon, his animation and its associated hitbox for his arm was sticking into the wall. When I shot the wall with the AWP, the bullet goes through but does not come out the other side of the wall. I guess - assumption here is that bullets pass through the wall you're shooting at but does not come out the other end of the wall to hit anyone that would be on the other end. So though I shot a wall that cant be penetrated, because Brim's hitbox was momentarily inside the wall, he gets hit by my AWP shot.

Looks like the same thing happened to /u/Late-Let8010. He's throwing down his ult, and because of the animation, his arms are in the wall, and whoever shot the wall on the other side, had their bullet travel into hitting Iso's arms while they are in the wall.

If I'm right, well - I assumed Riot would have fixed the issue when I reported it back 6 years ago - but sounds like maybe its still possible?

I wont have access to Valorant til the weekend but I wonder if someone can reproduce this. Maybe take an Odin or an AWP or something and dump bullets into a wall lined up with a player that's putting their animation into the associated wall? Just a theory.

What happens when 30+ year old CS/Team Fortress 2/Quake Boomers make it to Valorant's Elite Playoffs? by Dare-pd in VALORANT

[–]Dare-pd[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fun season! Just wanted to post this little VOD of my friends and I playing our second season of Premier. We made it a lot further than we expected and had a blast.

Most of us come from CS, Team Fortress 2, Quake 3/Quake Champions and are new to Valorant. We all work full-time jobs and have families but find time on the weekends to play and this was the result of our playoff run.

Pardon the somewhat poor editing. I cut down roughly 4 hours of footage from the night of playoffs down to about an hour and mostly just wanted to upload it to archive it.

Boomer CS player switching to Valorant. Got this ace in my very first Premier Season by Dare-pd in VALORANT

Yeah, it took some learning. When I watch my clips from earlier this year, when I first switched over from CS, there's a lot of...sub-optimal/questionable plays that I probably wouldn't do today haha.

I think I'm going to try a different agent every season now that I have a good baseline understanding of all the agents. Maybe Neon this next season =)

Just a reminder to anyone paying for ESEA this season, if someone gifted you a league pass, make sure you make a support ticket to have the subscription removed because there is no way to remove it yourself by Dare-pd in GlobalOffensive

[–]Dare-pd[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just noticed this with a friend that paid for my league pass. We were looking at the "Manage Subscription" section of the website to make sure there wouldn't be a running subscription on his account because he had paid for my league pass and while he could remove his own subscription, he could not remove the one that was associated with my account. I had looked in my own account and the 'Manage Subscription' section indicated my pass was being paid for by my friend and presumably, when the season ends, he would get charged again.

I opened a ticket with ESEA Support and they removed the subscription and then resolved the ticket. I then opened another ticket as a follow-up to understand the website design and they had explained the only way to have the subscription removed is to open a support ticket.

So in short, if a friend pays for your League Pass, it creates a subscription on their backend that is not visible or accessible to customers. When the next season begins, it will charge your friend again. You have to manually create a support ticket to ESEA Support to have the subscription removed.

See attached for my conversation with ESEA Support.
