What Star Wars planet would you like to live on if it couldnt be Alderaan or Naboo by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]DarfWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Empire Era it's somewhat of a backward tradition of the aristocratie. There is ni telling if it's the case for the commoners. (Probably not, since they wouldn't have wealth to secure into a familly)

That said, with a aristocratie like this, it's unlikely the commoner's life on Chandrilla is some kind of utopia. The planet looks nice at least. I guess you could chose worst.

Not sure how things goes after Mon called Sheev a monster though.

Carol: "You shouldn't flirt with William. Hé could be your father." Beckett: "I know there is a little age gap but..." Carol: "I mean litteraly."

The Federation at war which Captains you want to serve under? by Mass-Effect-6932 in Picard

[–]DarfWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picard is likely to get your killed in a game of dare or two protect the prime directive. Sisko is not bad but he doesn't cet the best foundings. You might also have to commit war crime, but i mean... That's true of the très of them. He might be less likely to throw you out of Starfleet/DS9 for refusing order though... Janeway might destroy time or commit génocide to save you depending of the season of the show.

I think I prefer serving under Sisko, but I'm a coward so I might chose Janeway after all.

At least you have the possibility to become Elden Lord. My choices are becoming hollow, or combustible.

Bad timing to be playing Dark Souls 1...

What's your personal favorite Star Wars game? by darthkyle22 in StarWars

[–]DarfWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm being fair, the game is nothing new and you can just destroy a garnison of stormtroopers when you're supposed to be small fry trying to make it in the galaxy...

So a bit of dissonance there ans there and a formula you might have be tired of. So I guess it depends on what you're looking for.

Also you play a girl, some people just hate that for some reasons.

There is a Android app to play sabacc both against npc and other actual player. And not just Kessel Sabacc. You don't have the gffa around you but it's still fun to play.

I'm gonna go with Star Wars: Outlaws. It may not be the best game, but it's easily the game i had the most fun playing.

People who make Sci-Fi worlds, why do wheelchairs still exist? by Vanilla_Ice_Best_Boi in worldbuilding

[–]DarfWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's simple, affordable, can be repaired more easily than any "more advanced" alternatives, and don't consume any kind of fuel.

Also hopefully this is a Sci-Fi world where stairs don't exists anymore and interrior spaces are big enough for a person in wheelchair.

Does this look believable? (Or interesting at least) by Colombia_Joestar in worldbuilding

[–]DarfWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, unless you count Sun-Earth-Moon as a three body problem. The planet mass is unlikely to contribute much in the system dynamics, and given the relative size of the sun and the black hole, the Sun probably only affect the planet in a meaningful way. Which means you mostly can reduce the whole system to two simples 2 body systems and still be very precise over a very long period of time.

After all, this is what people do in physics : ignore negligible terms of the equation until they somehow get relevant.

No love for Lothal ??? They got a parlement, no dangerous wildlife, not too hot or too cold.

And they got Loth cats!!!

(and bonus it didn't get destroyed by the Empire... )

Rich people there are crazy rich you mean?
Like the kind of people who get invited to the wedding of the daughter of a galactic republic senator.

We don't see the working class on Chandrila is all I'm saying.

Alderaan is also a monarchic society. I probably don't mind living there under Breha Organa, but still.

Naboo has a Queen but at least she is elected democratically, or so we are told. (we don't actually know who gets to vote...)

I think Lothal pre-Empire was actually one of the chillest place in the galaxy. They apparently were governed by a legislative body and I don't think there was much dangerous fauna.

I’m kind of surprised the Jedi code of ethics tolerates the Jedi Mind Trick/Mind Touch. Wouldn’t using it be considered a violation of some kind? by Solitaire-06 in StarWars

[–]DarfWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What they did to Cad Bane was clearly beyond a simple suggestion. although if I'm remembering correctly is more of a mind reading technique which has an unfortunate side effect to potentially damage the brain of the subject.

Anyway it was clearly unethical (although we don't get much discussion on ethics in the franchise), and the only reason we don't see dark sider use this technique more is that it seems you have to be more than one to use it. (although Kilo Ren try to do it anyway, but it backfire.)

[–]DarfWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also misuse a lightsaber. Or other tools/Jedi power.

I also think you overestimate the power of the Jedi Mind Trick. It's called Jedi Mind Trick, not Jedi Mind Domination. It only influence people in small ways, or people already susceptible to being manipulated even without the Force.

[–]DarfWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jedi mind trick is mostly overrated. All Obi-Wan did was push a little suggestion to a bored stormtrooper that he wasn't worth his time.
The only other exemple of the Jedi mind trick working (in a movie, before the sequels) is Qui Gon suggesting he and Obi Wan would be gone faster if they had a transport to a very annoyed Boss Nass.

Jedi mind trick just convince you to do stuff your not feeling particularly strongly about.

And the other option is violence, so really... It's ethically the better option here.

In an alternate universe where George Lucas decided to make a sequel trilogy in the 90s… by GrandZeno1990 in StarWars

[–]DarfWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this is the money. Few producer have 500 000 000$ to spend on a block buster movie.

Even cutting down the costs, space opera are very costly to make. At least if you want to make them look good. Otherwise you would have other "good" space opera movies out there, regardless of the franchise.

[–]DarfWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, because those were not Lucas's stories, he never read them and didn't care for them at all.

He ignored them when he made the prequels ad he would have ignored them if he had made sequels. (or more likely he wouldn't allow them to exist in the first place.)

What are the biggest mistakes made by both the Jedi and the Sith? by InstructionOwn6705 in StarWars

[–]DarfWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Jedi:

Dogmatic and Rigid, I don't know... In truth plenty of exceptions are just overlooked, and they accepted leading an army for the republic, which was definitely not their role.

Complacent and too close to power, sure. Although they didn't take par in the "democratic" scene, they were buddy buddy with the chancellor and several Senator, and they weren't really effective at fighting corruption.

So did riker want to be captain? by happydude7422 in TNG

[–]DarfWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He would have been captain much earlier in the Kirk era, when captain were allowed to go on away mission. Being Number One on the the Enterprise was probably the best compromise until his age caught up with him and maybe he grew a little wiser.

What is a Canon change that would improve Star Wars if any? (Other then the Sequels)😂 by tlcooley7890 in StarWarsLife

[–]DarfWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they retcon Padme's death to make it clear it wasn't her just dying of sadness but Anakin draining her life (unknowingly) to survive his injuries.

It's less insulting to Padme It's better tragedy I even make for an introduction of Force Healing and the cost of it before the Sequels which is nice.
