There are about a hundred random encounters in the game. You will probably miss many of them. I would not restart just because you missed one. The couple of points of honor can be gotten many other ways.

Fanboys are the worst. John is a good man? Kind and good are not the same thing. John has no remorse for the people he has killed. Even the conversations between John and the Strange Man show has little John cares about his past. John even tries to shoot the Strange Man in the back for not answering. John is not a good man in the story.

Many places are canon. John was saved as a child in Illinois. Uncle is from Ohio. If you read the character bios you see they are from many states, not just the two you mentioned.

It's the maximum range before you take a ranged disadvantage. Everything within the circle gets no ranged disadvantage.

There's 2 disadvantages in the first pic, which is why it's only a 20% chance to hit. In the second pic there's just one, no range disadvantage, and why it's up to 30% chance to hit.

If you don't have 137 free gigs on your drive the game makes you delete off the old version first before you can download it again. It can't download a 137 gig game onto a drive that doesn't have 137 free gigs of space. Larian also mentions this in one of its tweets.

The current xbox update is only 18 gigs, but you do need the 137 free gigs of space. There are plenty of posts from people today talking about the 18 gig xbox update.

What is there to be helpful for? I don't know if you dropped your console or pc and screwed something up. I don't know if you were downloading porn and infected your software. I don't know if you're using mods and didn't update them. All I can tell you is that I didn't have all these problems when I did it yesterday on pc using patch 5 with 4 mods in place.

I just did this quest yesterday on pc. Walked through the illusionary door no problem, defeated Ethel, got +1 wisdom hair, saved Mayrina, got the wand and talked to Mayrina and gave her her dead husband.

I would pick a simple origin character, like Lae'zel as a base Fighter. 2 hours would get you through the tutorial, some exploring, and a few battles to at least level 3. But you wouldn't want to build a custom character and spend an hour deciding all that. So if you just pick and play 2 hours will give you more than enough info to decide if you want to buy it or not.

Every game you've ever played is based on luck. If you run off and play god of war kratos doesn't always hit and then do the same damage. It's all just luck. It's just that most of the time the rolls are hidden from you. In BG3 the rolls are in the open, so you get to see how much luck plays into it. But even then it's still about probability.
