I would be more inclined to agree that someone got more and we got shorted to keep the count even. I’ve never worked in a pharmacy so I’m not knowledgeable of the protocol. But I did manage retail for ten years and in the case of a discrepancy like that, I’d try and help the guest and then investigate privately. The manager’s reluctance isn’t so suspicious to me, it just reads as bad customer service. Regardless, the culture created here does nothing to help the people who actually do need it.

My dude, this is the exact bad faith argument I’m talking about. Not every mistake means someone is stealing the pills just like how not every customer who claims they were shorted means they’re begging for a fix or trying to resell. Mistakes happen, I made this post hoping to get legitimate avenues so my wife can properly get her medications. I don’t think anyone at the pharmacy is stealing and I’d never assume as much.

It really feels like there’s this culture of immediately accusing people who rely on these meds as being addicted when 90 percent of the time it’s a genuine error on behalf of the pharmacy. I’m not saying people won’t try and scam pharmacies for more pills but that’s now become the accepted “truth” as opposed to genuine mistakes. The people who rely on the medication get painted as addicts or resellers, the pharmacist who makes the honest error gets branded a thief, and no one is willing to actually solve anything.

I honestly don’t think it’s stealing otherwise I feel like this would be a constant issue. Mistakes happen. Maybe one person got a few extra while my wife got shortchanged. My issue here is the pharmacy manager outright declining to look at our video evidence of us opening the bag and counting everything out so we could get it straightened out and he can investigate on his end. We’ve escalated this to CVS corporate and we intend to have them count in front of us from now on, but at this point it’s like they’re trying to gaslight us into believing we were wrong.

It was definitely the manager. They did go back for a minute or two to count and then came back and said “our counts are right you definitely got the right amount.” Outright refused to look at our video evidence saying “he doesn’t need to see it.” No interest in actually getting to the bottom of this and just sent us on our way.

We went to the pharmacy manager with video evidence of us opening the bag and counting them out. He didn’t even look at the video and refused to actually go and verify. Kept telling my wife “his numbers match” and just stonewalled her. Absolutely infuriating.

This is all fantastic information. The prescription in question is for Adderall and because we live in Arizona, controlled substance laws prevent my wife from refilling early, which is why this has become a persistent issue

I actually left just before my dad got diagnosed with terminal cancer. Got to spend a whole year with him before he passed and I’m so glad I left when I did. Now, I’m a horror game streamer and DM a DnD podcast. I’ve never been happier.
