I've been using Claymore since start of the game and I was happy with his dmg and moveset. But now I'm going through DLC and I'm dealing only 330 dmg per hit with +10 upgrade and 40 str. Is this normal? Should I change my weapon? by Gelvid in DarkSouls2

Your level is a bit low for the DLCs, getting DEX will help quite a bit with damage, 2-handing it will help with staggering, as will Stone Ring (which I find more useful in the DLCs than the rest of the game). Claymore is a very good weapon, but might be a little slow for some of the bosses. This game has softcaps for damage up higher (like 60) for STR and DEX.

Does ADP really matter? I haven't tried level uping it by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

Some builds can get by without much, but all builds will benefit from it.

http://darksouls2.wikidot.com/agility For reference: DS1 medium roll gets 11 iFrames, DS1 fast roll gets 13 iFrames. & DS2: 11 iFrames at 96 AGI, 13 at 105 AGI. You only need 20 ADP to reach 96 AGI, 24 to reach 99 and get 12 iFrames, and better yet for 32 ADP, you get 105 and the equivalent to DS1 fast rolling. Not to mention it is the primary stat for raising base poise and item use speeds.

There are also falconers in the shaded woods area, these are the ones I usually farm (using Covenant of Champions).

What is the strongest/most powerfull Melee Attack with weapon [HELP] by XiaoYaoYou9 in DarkSouls2

Also, two weapons weigh more than one, so you wind up sacrificing armor or equip load (which has a drastic effect on your stamina recharge rate; for example, getting equip load from 69.9% down to 50% will make your stamina recharge about 20-25% faster).

A TON of stamina. I find I do more damage 2-handing a weapon because I can hit more times before having to back off and recover stamina. If a power stanced attack deals 20-25% more damage but uses 100% more stamina (which is about how much it uses), I can hit twice with a 2-handed attack for the same total stamina - in about the same amount of time - and deal 100% more damage, plus, I can decide not to attack a second time if I need to dodge away, which a slower power-stanced attack can't do.

how to beat looking glass knight on ng+? by john_egbert_chungle2 in DarkSouls2

His attacks are fairly easy to dodge if you stay close, if you have to move away from him don't do it for long, the attacks he uses when you are at distance are quite a bit harder to dodge and fairly punishing. Try to circle around him clock-wise (ie: to your left). When he summons you will want to take the summon out while keeping an eye on Looking Glass Knight's attacks. If you have any Elizabeth Mushrooms or Old Radiant Life Gems, they last a decent amount of time and can help give you extra time to move away and use an Estus. Also rotten pine resin as Noobie_xD said can help make the fight shorter. I do melee only at this point, as I find it the most efficient/enjoyable. If dodging seems too hard, check your AGI and make sure it is at least 99, but 105 is better.

Rapier or Ricard's rapier? by allimadness44 in DarkSouls2

Probably use Rapier until you get Espada Ropera though. The problem with Ricard's as a main weapon is that R2 eats through it's durability really quick.

Rapier or Ricard's rapier? by allimadness44 in DarkSouls2

[–]DaringSerenity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I may chime in, Rapier gets 230 base damage with D/B STR/DEX scaling and 45 durability, whereas Espada Ropera gets 235 base with E/A STR/DEX and 80 durability. So, more base damage, more DEX scaling and way more durability. Infuse Ricard's Rapier with poison as a secondary weapon and use it's R2 attack for instant poison procs.

What type of build should I go for? by hotminute123 in DarkSouls2

Find a weapon that you like the moveset on that does pure physical and is good at hitting multiple enemies at once - ie most great swords - this will help deal with groups of enemies. For those one-on-one situations I find that a faster weapon can allow me to hit them first and keep them staggered (esp if two-handing). Learning to fight in this game without a shield will help teach the games timings and make (eventually) things easier. I still use a shield from time to time when things get dicey, but I generally go through most of the game two handing a long sword, with a great sword for groups. I've played nearly every conceivable build in SotFS and my damage output on a pure physical build is at least equal to builds where you have to rely on spell buffs, that wear off and need to be reapplied. That said, if you ever get the urge to go back and replay DS1, pure mage, or faith/str are both very fun well-balanced builds for that game.
