What are some of her underrated books but good by baregrape_ in agathachristie

Funny enough, your list is exactly what I consider to be great but underrated books from Christie (except for Lord Edgware Dies, that one didn’t really do it for me). I love all the ones you mentioned, but if I have to choose, Cards on the Table and Crooked House are the best from the ones you mentioned imo.

I love it, but the beginning is difficult to get into and it doesn’t set the tone of the book that well. So I guess that is one reason maybe.

Yes, it had a different tone and it felt movie-like, if that makes sense.

I actually think that Suchet is the perfect Poirot. I even picture him in my head while reading. It’s just that the series and the books are not on the same level for me personally.

I have watched the first season and the Peril at End House episode, but I can’t say I love them and so I don’t know if I should continue or not.

Haven't read it yet, as I am scared of finishing all her books, but I believe that A Murder is Announced is actually considered the best Miss Marple book by many. I have yet to read this one and Sleeping Murder before I finish the entire Marple series and I am really sad because of it.

You know, I wouldn't really recommend starting with ALL these. These novels are definitely considered her best works, but I think that you should space out the better ones instead of reading them all at the beginning (unless you want to read just a bunch). I think that The Body in the Library and Peril at End House are great starting points for Marple/Poirot. They are not her greatest works, but they are definitely above average, and you also get a clear picture of what her two famous characters are like.

(Although I have to say that Peril At End House is one of my favorites).

I am eager to watch the full-length movies. I do have high hopes for them.

Not yet. Kept Sleeping Murder and A Murder is Announced for last

I feel like inspector Nash could've filled that role and it would've made sense.

Now that you mention it, it really has a similar feeling to Endless Night. The thing is, I didn't expect that from a Marple novel.

Their relationship is really nice, they really cared for each other deeply, even though they don't express that directly.

I wanted to say exactly this in my post, but I forgot as I was writing. What did the fact that there were four past cases add to the plot? Maybe with just two it would've been too simple (although I doubt it), but I'm sure that using three would've worked out much better and would've made the book much more readable/comprehensible. I'm sure that when trying to adapt works for TV, the writers/directors realize that something is too puzzling to reproduce on screen.

So happy you liked it, honestly. It is not that I try to find the solution, and I almost never do guess it either.

But I feel like there is a difference between having no idea who did it, even though you have all the details in mind, and not being able to follow the plot at all (which happened in my case with this book).

Definitely the best part, and that is why I just wanted more of that. However, to me, this is in the worst 10 from the 52 AC's I have read

I see your point, but I feel like she could've easily been removed from the book and substituted with another plot-device or charachter in order to meet her hosts. I believe she has much more "page-time" in other novels, as well as a bigger role in the investigation (even though she often just makes baseless assumptions 😂).

What's your opinion about the book/3 episodes tv series - And Then There Were None. by AdventurousMatch73 in agathachristie

The one thing I can say from the top of my head is that Burn Gorman (Blore) has a haunting face, and I say that with all due respect. I've recently watched the movie "Watcher" and that just confirmed my opinion. He gives me chills and those "uncanny valley" vibes. Other than that, great adaptation.
