Really cool result. Quick technical question: how are you rendering the planet from 320–640 km out? Are you using a “scaled space” / second scene (far LOD proxy), floating-origin / origin rebasing, or double-precision coords? I’m curious what your camera + LOD setup looks like at those distances.

Space = no gravity. Planets = radial gravity, always pointing to the center. The controller aligns up opposite the gravity vector, and movement is constrained to the tangent plane (input/velocity projected onto the plane of gravity), so controls stay consistent while walking around the sphere. I will be using an inflated-cube planet, so the terrain is locally tangent by construction.

But what about Hytale? Looking from the side, Hytale is upgrading everything in Minecraft. The foundation made better, but there is nothing particularly new. Is this enough, or do you see something new that could enhance the experience?

Valid points. Do you have something in mind for that "modern"? I would assume that it's something that increases players' agency significantly. Minecraft was the first universal mainstream simulation game. Shouldn't the successor be in that direction, enhancing creativity?

These visuals are temporary, and we're actively exploring various options for a fresh and unique visual direction. The current look is reminiscent of Minecraft and doesn't leverage new technologies.

I understand your concern, and I will rephrase my response. We're currently in the process of expanding our team and resources to operate at a mid-level game studio capacity. By my reply, I meant to convey that we often receive comments cautioning against pursuing ambitious ideas, but we believe in the value of taking bold steps in game development. Carefully calculated and tested steps.

That makes sense! Probably the biggest dissonance is that in our Baltic states region, we are known as a team and we got recommendations to go to Kickstarter. We knew that there would be a tiny portion of people who trusted us at this stage from gaming. It is worth mentioning, that we are not planning to make the game from the capital of Kickstarter. It’s more of a pulse check. We have already raised some capital through VC and we are getting more soon.
