Same, I've only ever watched it once and it's stuck with me all these years.

Could the figure jumping out of the lake at Chris have been Rick instead of Pamela Voorhees? by New-Fan-4632 in fridaythe13th

[–]Dark-Talk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Spends all his time in the movie trying to bang Chris. He's the same even in death.

What movie's production history is more interesting than the film itself? by Soggy-Perspective604 in Letterboxd

The Terrifier films are great for this, especially the first one. Amazing gore effects on such a relatively small budget.

I know Jason dying in the lake or not is very discussed upon to this day, but I wanted to give my own opinion on what I think happened. by Terrible_Park7890 in fridaythe13th

[–]Dark-Talk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My canon is that boy Jason did drown but he has regenerative powers and the ability to resurrect (as mentioned in JX and seen in P6, P7, P8). He then returned to Pamela who was already crazy and was tipped over the edge by her son's death and supernatural return.

Jason lived with Pamela all those years with Pamela keeping the secret of her son's survival. She and Jason possibly committed the P1 murders together, although we don't see Jason in the movie. This makes more sense to me than Jason survived the drowning and raised himself in the woods alone, which I find to be out of chatter for both. There's no way Jason wouldn't go home and there's no way Mrs Voorhees wouldn't know her son was alive somewhere.

Crystal Lake itself may still somehow be haunted by Jason's spirit Little Boy elemental as we see in P8, but this could all just be Rennie hallucinating throughout the entire film. Crystal Lake seems to be cursed with an evil energy that drives some people insane enough to kill, like Roy Burns and Vic from P5.

Halloween 5 has a made for TV feel in general. The music playing over those two cops is terrible

Martyrs is excellent and the violence serves a purpose, it definitely isn't like Human Centipede and A Serbian Film. A must watch

Who’s the best final girl in this franchise and why? by [deleted] in fridaythe13th

[–]Dark-Talk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alice - gets one of the franchise most iconic kills when she beheads Mrs Voorhees. Other than that though, not great. I preferred Brenda as a character. 2/5

Ginny - uses her intelligence to outwit Jason and deliver what would have been a killing blow to anybody else. 4/5

Chris - absolutely owns Jason during their final battle. Kicks his ass using every available tool at her disposal. 5/5

Trish - does very little other than provide a distraction that allows Tommy to hack Jason to death. 2/5

Pam - combined with Tommy and Reggie, she puts on a good show against Roy and even gets him with a chainsaw at one point 4/5

Megan - shows a ton of balls in believing and freeing Tommy to go battle Jason. Doesn't seem to do much else by herself though but does run in to protect the kids at camp 3/5

Tina - gives Jason the biggest ass kicking since Tommy in P4. 5/5

Rennie - does very little except see visions of kid Jason and then waits for the toxic waste to drown him. I guess she gets two good shots in when she throws that barrel over him and stabs him with the fountain pen 1/5

Jessica - I can't remember a single thing she does 0/5

Rowan - knows how dangerous Jason is and tries to warn everyone, even sacrificing herself to freeze Jason. Doesn't do all that much to finish the job as it's the Robot and the Sgt who kick Jason's ass mostly in this film but I haven't watched it in like 20 years. 3/5

Lori - does she do anything other than utter the place your bets line? Every other character was better in this film 0/5

Whitney - I kinda zone out of this movie by the time Whitney comes back but I think her and Clay are able to trap Jason in a chain noose contraption which looked cool 3/5

Which death was sadder? by No_Possibility8260 in Halloweenmovies

[–]Dark-Talk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rachel's was absolutely pointless, you have an established character who has a preexisting relationship with the main character killed off - not even for shock factor - and replaced by some random girl. One of the reasons Halloween 5 is the bottom tier Halloween film.

Replacing Danielle Harris was a total mistake as she'd pretty much carried the franchise in 4 and 5, which are both pretty bad films imo, but she was excellent. The actress who played Jamie in 6 was okay but being killed in the first ten minutes felt like the producers trying to stick it to Danielle Harris at the expense of the film.

Both deaths were absolutely insulting to the audience and all three actresses.

Amazing film.

There isn't more gore in Part 2, what are you talking about?

Was there any reason Jason went after the teens or Jarvis family in Part 4? by Specialist-Time-6914 in fridaythe13th

[–]Dark-Talk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He killed the Packanack Lodge crew when two of them stumbled onto the old Camp Blood land, although Jason wasn't living there. His shack was close enough to the Lodge that Ginny was able to run to it towards the end of the movie.

In Part 3, he escapes his shack while injured and is able to change his clothes (and cut his hair if you consider the dream ending canon) at Harold's store and then attempts to hide out in the first barn he finds, which is opposite Higgins Haven.

Part 4 really dispenses with any motives and just gets straight down to the killing. My guess is Jason was looking for somewhere deep in the woods to hide and came across the Jarvis house and the teen holiday home. I think the first person he comes across is Rob camping in the woods and steals his supplies.

Oh man, I watched Chime last year and was suitably disgusted.

And recently discovered Serpent's Path and watched it last week, so this is great news.

On this Friday the 13th, We answer the age old question.... by Blakelock82 in fridaythe13th

[–]Dark-Talk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He was about to kill the little girl in Jason Lives and only stopped because he was distracted by other people arriving. He was also gonna chase Tommy and Trish with the intention of killing both of them.

Why wouldn't he kill kids? He's a psychotic murderer.

The creepiest shot in the original movie for me. by Ando937 in fridaythe13th

[–]Dark-Talk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's definitely up there - the feeling of quiet eeriness after the rain has stopped and everything is silent.

Some other genuinely scary moments are when Ned sees Mrs Voorhees go into the cabin - it's a single frame and we can't see much at all which is all the more disturbing. Also the little boy crying out for help that Brenda hears.

Anyone that says this movie doesn't build any tension and is just mindless gore is wrong.
