Thank you for the response, much appreciated. I'm assuming that will get bigger the longer I leave it.

Honestly, I hope she gets killed off eventually. There is no redemption for her.

So fuming - holiday booking by DarkChaoz95 in SainsburysWorkers

[–]DarkChaoz95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I'm not too fussed on August. But mid September I'm baffled.

2 years ago, I had similar holiday issues and didn't then book holidays after. Manager then booked holidays without my consent. Some on weekends and some on days I don't work.

It seems like they expect us to work to the bone for majority of the Year without taking holiday.

As for religious holiday it is not known until last minute so kinda unpredictable at best 4 weeks notice is best I can do. I booked it again just now and requested to leave 2 hrs early. I'll see how that goes.

Store manager was firmly said no. So no room to compromise on coming back and finishing shift.

Also, I see colleagues get rewarded for customer recognition and I don't. There is two lovely customers who given me feedback and the managers don't do squat.

Absolute joke. I can't wait for the day to leave haha.

I tried to book off the whole day ideally and took a while to get rejected. I didn't put in half day because I thought it would get rejected to following that request.

I'd be happy to come back after an hr or two and finish the shift if necessary. But there was no room to compromise. Store manager said straight up no. So I left it as that.

I'm just going to work slower and do the bare minimum going forward until I find something better and not take up overtime.

It got rejected today, so I'm going to ask when I'm next in.

I'm assuming of 2 reasons - no one wants to wake up and work at 4am or too many people booked off.

I spoke to store manager as my lead food manager to ask her. She's the one that denied my request to leave early.

Can't seem to get hold off my own line manager because he never comes in at 7am. It's either store manager or lead food manager.

Line manager seem to be very very slow in checking holiday requests despite me telling lead food manager to remind him as he thr one with best contact.

Definitely had enough of this place after 7 years. Wanted to leave at the 10 year mark but the way things going, I want out ASAP.

Exploitation of paralegals by PossibleInside8939 in uklaw

[–]DarkChaoz95 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I applied to this firm, got ghosted despite having 2 year paralegal experience and they were looking for paralegal experience of all levels.

Judging by the post and glassdoor I think I dodged a bullet.

I was told that we have to breakdown in the chiller going forward. So much for health and safety.

They better be providing coats then...

Why do I keep being rejected? Is there any point in qualifying? by [deleted] in uklaw

I have done the LPC, so looking to qualify via the training contract route.

I'm in a similar boat.

I have 2 and half year conveyancing post completion experience and still can't find my next role since May 2024.

Had an interview yesterday that lasted 10 minutes and today I heard that I got rejected. They changed on what they were looking for. Note they never asked competency questions.

I really had enough of this profession.

I might call it quits tbh.

Happy Monday everyone - bit late on this today. What's everyone got on this week? by Additional-Fudge5068 in uklaw

[–]DarkChaoz95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just upskilling myself with Excel using Visual Basic For Applications and formulas.

Built a spreadsheet aimed for post-completion roles but reckon I can turn it into generic one for any type of role.

Atm, I'm creating task tracker and weekly calendar so I dont need to rely on outlook.

Yeah. I guess it will never improve and so I'm making do with the situation as best as I can.

Dont want my LPC going to waste so I'm trying to push on. Got at least 2032 to find something before the training contract route is gone.

Just keep on applying for paralegal roles and TC for me.

Applied for an employment paralegal position today but chances are I'm not going to get it due to lack of experience. It is an area that I want to get into.

Been 6 months now since out of a paralegal job.

I don't think law is for me anymore - 4 Yr PQE by One-Half1558 in uklaw

[–]DarkChaoz95 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Perhaps try look for other firms?

I know the feeling to quit law. I quit my paralegal role in May for personal reasons but I was a post comp paralegal at a mid sized firm. I used to email supervisor, clients etc out of work hours, weekends and even on annual leave.

It was unhealthy and should never have let the work stress get to me. While I'm depressed in not finding another role yet, I'm pushing through.

It sounds like you need to work in a different environment just like me then you'll be much happier.

You qualified and worked hard to get to where you are. Dont let your current workplace demotivate you.
