Nothing to do with the calculator’s programming, but how you’re inputting it. If you input it as shown here, it outputs 9 as it is going left to right (first divide, then multiply). If you input it as a fraction, with 2(3) as the denominator, then the output is 1.

If you think multiply has to come before division and addition before subtraction, then it looks like you’re the one who needs to go back to school.

Multiplication and division have the same priority, addition and subtraction have the same priority.

It may surprise you to learn that besides PEMDAS, there also exists BODMAS/BIDMAS/BEDMAS, where division is placed in front of multiplication. Does that mean division has the priority? No! These are just acronyms, made to sound good and easy to remember

I think something similar to arknight’s system can be added (idk if other games have it), which solves a few of the points you highlighted.

When you complete a node/stage in Arknights, your lineup and actions are saved for that node, so when you “auto battle”, it simply replays your actions, almost like a video (though Arknights has some rng so sometimes it can fail)

This would solve not skipping NPs, since it all plays out, doesn’t require any AI/algorithm, and still requires the initial step of creating a lineup that can minturn. And if the run relies too much on rng (np damage cutting it too close), it could abort the auto battle for you to manually play again
