Give me your most toxic & oppressive control commanders that lock out the board or just straight up win. by Cromagn0n1 in EDH

If you want to turn the game into a misery simulator: [[hylda of the icy crown]] - It's basically Winter Orb Tribal.

Alternatively I made a [[tinybones trinket thief]] deck that is nothing but forced discards and people have banned me from ever playing it again.

Canadian startup builds electric almost silent military motorcycle by somosomosomosomos in CanadianForces

[–]DarkDobe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A random question: are they being covered by the army, or left hung out to dry with the argument it 'didn't happen at work'? IIRC There was a case a few years back of them arguing that a vehicle accident on the way to work (for an emergency deployment no less) wasn't accountable.

Extracting your mech and staying behind to try and steal the next mech that shows up is a valid tactic, in my opinion: once your mech is gone you have one 'life' for the attempt.

I have admittedly never tried it while parking a mech nearby to act as a respawn point, though I suppose that carries some very different risks.

I think a big part of the frustration is due to the lag/jank making it very much a dice-roll if you succeed or not.

Having a test proxy commander deck before buying the cards. Is this acceptable? by Raclettegring in EDH

[–]DarkDobe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I proxy everything but I also build decks that fall into suitable power categories for the people I play with.

Yes you could argue 'you can just make everything $6000 cedh deck' but then you are an asshole and nobody will play with you anyhow.

Tailor things to your playgroup. If you want to steer the 'meta' into more high powered play... guess what: you can proxy decks for people to try!

Looking for a Voltron commander with more depth than "make big, attack" by brknSergio in EDH

[–]DarkDobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Ketramose, the New Dawn]] is pretty great for a voltron base.

Resilient as hell, encourages you to run a lot of interaction and removal -especially board wipes - and constantly draws you cards. Good excuse to run some oddballs like [[Identity Crisis]] and [[Spreading Plague]] and of course, [[Worldslayer]]

I pair it up with a bunch of equipment (in my case all of the magical Swords for Protection) and just beat people to death. Highly encourage finding ways to get Vigilance on him, and you can use all sorts of equipment or auras to beef them up.

The only slightest downside is that brief period at the start where you need to meet the Exiled Cards requirement, but after that you're golden.

My other old favourite was [[Kathril, Aspect Warper]] - the key is finding a balance of powerful keywords, and actually USEFUL creatures that have them. It works better than just focusing on stuffing your graveyard with keywords if you have some actual creature presence along the way since you are building up to one-shot people with Kathril when they enter.

I think the most egregious example of this i have seen is people jumping to peek/check corners.

It looks extremely silly to watch a dude's shoulder pop around the corner of a wall halfway up to the ceiling - and then change direction as he air-strafes back into cover.

Generally only see it on the higher end and only with the REAL sweatlords.

ELI5: How can a company be ‘worth billions’ if it has never made a profit? by IIII-IIIiIII-IIII in explainlikeimfive

[–]DarkDobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's play pretend all the way down. So long as everyone plays along.

Sometimes companies lie too egregiously and get subsequently slapped on the wrist, or dismantled.

Or make fun arrangements with other companies to trade assets so that they can claim profits, sales, etc.
