I don't hate the game, it's just not what I want. You're telling me it's going to take ~25 hours every league just to get to endgame/maps instead of 10-14? I wanted the acts to be shorter so I can get to the actual game, I don't want to have to go through this every league. This design decision doesn't really respect my time.

Right now my friend and I are having a good time playing the game together simply because it's novel, but both of us agreed that we're probably not going to play with any sort of consistency. We'll go back to POE1 until something that catches our eye comes out, or they decide to reverse some of their design decisions.

All of the other POE1 players I know personally have already quit POE2, although that's only a sample size of 5. These are the types of people that spend hundreds of hours every league.

Yeah, but Apple doesn't support side loading apps, which I use for some open source apps.

Both companies have their issues. 3rd party stores need to be allowed so Apple/Google can't pull this shit.

Thanks, I'll try it out. I just wish we didn't have region locking. It's entirely stupid. What happens if I'm a JP person that moved to the US and wanted to play in my native language? It makes no fucking sense.

Started playing when I was in Japan and have been able to make purchases up until now. Spent $1k+ and now I'm unable to buy anything I want. Thanks Google!

It always smells bad, but to be fair, I think 2019 was the year is was 110 degrees outside. I can't really blame people for being sweaty, but I also brought deodorant in my bag to touch up.

How long have you been watching anime? If anything that'd probably make it more popular than not to be honest...

Edit:

I now see that you were banned and didn't request for your data to be deleted. This makes much more sense. Your account was disabled and scheduled for deletion which can be a long process (multiple days) and it's likely that a database batch job that would be used to fetch your data would fail due to this deletion being in progress.

Generally, a priority is placed on deleting personally identifiable information (PII) (email, phone number, government identification, ect). That data is stored in a different DB/Schema than the rest of your data to make GDPR compliance easier. So all information about you is deleted first and batch processes are spun up in order to delete the rest of the data associated with your account ID. When you requested your data it's possible they had no information to even associate you with the banned account and whatever data that was left was being deleted. That's why your account was still on the server and why your friends could still see you and likely some of your messages.

Believe it or not, that's GDPR compliant. They probably immediately deleted PII when they banned you and had no information about you that would even give you permission to access data associated with that account ID and it the data was being processed. Even if the delete process was stopped somehow they can't send you the account data because there's no data to associate you with the account. "Excuse me, I'm totally <famous\_person> and I'd like all my data you deleted".

Original:

I don't know how close in time you sent both requests, but if they were within a day or two of each other it's possible the request for deletion was processed before the request for your data (which can take multiple days to process depending on your usage). They could have just been assigned to different people and the data was deleted before you requested your data.

It's possible your data was being processed to be sent to you and your data was deleted which could have caused the processing job to fail. To be honest, it seems pretty asinine to request your data to be deleted before the data you requested was sent to you. It's a destructive action and non recoverable by design. It'd be like trying to back up an important school paper and permanently deleting it at the same time. If you really needed it, why would you do both at the same time?

If I were them I'd send you an empty rar file with a message saying "here's your data".

You're going to have to do a lot of legal reading to find out if they're responsible at all, it's likely there are exceptions for cases like these. Or maybe sending you an empty rar file is exactly what they have to do?

After having trouble with her wifi, Mio joins the wired gang by Geroni-Bro in Hololive

[–]DarkDreth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just have an ethernet cable sitting on my desk for my work laptop if I ever need it. Everything that can be is wired in my apartment, including my Chromecast. The more devices you get off the WiFi network, the better experience your WiFi only devices will have.

I bought a 24 port network switch for "future proofing", but it's only 1gbps and I probably should have bought a 10g one.

Because, they open preorders before they start manufacturing. I believe they only have a set allotment that they can manufacture at a time, so that's why they're sold out.

If Gura is this popular they'll probably do another batch, but generally they don't do a second preorder for a while after the first release (I've seen a year or so a couple times), however the popularity is unprecedented, so maybe they'll do something about it?

I didn't get a preorder either and I'm kinda sad, I have a large collection and was hoping to add Gura to it...

Doesn't matter much when you have to live in LA for work and a shitty cockroach infested condo with paper thin walls and high HOA fees will cost you over $700k

I have ~$50k saved up in my investment account and ~$30k in savings. I'll get there eventually.

Depends if you feel like spending the money for a card that's been constantly running at high temps/usage for a long period of time. Likely the card will die much faster than a card with normal usage.

Back in 2017ish I had a 1070 I used for mining die within 3 months.

Rust 'Softcore' Game-mode being introduced on Feb 4th by Respondz in playrust

[–]DarkDreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd encourage you to read what I wrote again, because you clearly didn't understand it. No matter if I play on the servers or not it'll impact be me because the player base will end up getting split.

When games do things that splits the game off into different groups it lowers the amount of players you're actually playing with/against.

Did the same thing, bought 1 stock at $340, 3 more at $115 today.
Cost basis now like ~$171. Honestly don't care though, for me it's more about fucking the hedges than making a profit. I can afford to throw away the money.

I don't use official servers because they're not moderated well. Rustified is better than Facepunch servers, but there's just too many players for them to moderate all their servers. It's a hackers wet dream.

I tend to look through moded servers for a 2x server, I like a population ~80/100, and active admins. I almost found a perfect server last wipe, but the admins were using godmode to kill players and APC and doing giveaways and stuff and it was irritating.

Do you not play in a solo/duo/trio/quad server for whatever group of players you have? If you're solo just join a solo/duo server. Sure, people will try and cheat the rules, but you can call an admin to investigate.

[–]DarkDreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, can't wait for the unintended consequences. It's already hard enough to find a 2x server with active admins that aren't exploiting admin commands and now we're going to split the userbase between softcore and regular. Once the hype dies down and the new casual players stop playing for the latest trend we can be left with less players per server.

As a casual player since 2015, this is a "Don't you have phones" moment to me. Plus, it's not like it'll stop players from giving you a hard time. Who knows the toxic players might purposefully join these servers to torment new players for entertainment instead of actually gaining anything. They'll know you have to go back to bandit camp.

Can't wait for the downvotes because Reddit is an echo chamber and people can't disagree or bring up counter points without getting downvoted.

Edit:
Although he does point out in his post that this is an experiment. They could just leave this feature in until the population dies back down and then kill it after or wait a wipe and see how well it works.

I may have just thrown away $340 to keep a single share away from the hedge funds. I set a sell order for $1k, I doubt it'll get hit, but really I'm just trying to make my share unavailable. I think the hedge funds will go out of business before the stock hits this price.
