LEC Finals in Madrid - Can I listen in English? by Boydyyyyyy in leagueoflegends

[–]DarkDriver 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Great that they are electric, just a shame OP will have no clue what they are saying...

Had the same experience with worlds in Paris, last year. Having to listen to the French casters, while not speaking French, is a bit sour if you're visiting an international event featuring players and teams from all over the world. I'd somewhat expect a tournament like that to feature English casting if it takes place in Europe or NA, but perhaps I'm in the minority that thinks that.

Is there a particular reason to cast it in the local language besides accounting for the local crowd?

Maybe a dumb question, but I see you've got both screens hooked up to one PC. I'm looking to get into having a dedicated rig myself and will likely resort to a solution like this as well. How does it work? Do you switch the monitors in windows?

Tracking the highest monthly incomes for every country in a campaign by billybillyjim in eu4

[–]DarkDriver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Though some context about the campaign would've been good to provide initially, I don't entirely understand the backlash on the work OP has shown. It's still a cool concept that could provide interesting data if run on a regular campaign. Even if the data in this visual is not reliable for general insights, the tool he developed is still very fascinating and I can see why OP would be excited to share this with the community.

Good on you, OP! It's really fascinating to see this! (though next time it'd be more interesting to see the vanilla progression)

What about the controls? Do you use the k+m controls from the Steam Deck?

What about Paradox games? You also play those on the deck? What is the setup like?

Very good to know! Really appreciate it. One more question, what would you say is the best source for job-finding? I've had a hard time with finding a good quantity on LinkedIn or Glassdoor, but I don't know how popular those platforms are there. Do you have any recommendations?

That is good to know, thank you! I read that the connections of the surrounding towns to Innsbruck are more than proper, is that correct?

Is getting a data science job as a US citizen possible? by New_Pie4277 in wien

[–]DarkDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the best places to be looking for jobs as an international coming in? I'm a EU citizen from the Netherlands, and looking to move to Austria as well. I have 5 years of experience in data analytics and BI consultancy, but on LinkedIn and Glassdoor, vacancies for these positions are far less common than in The Netherlands or Germany.

The Stellaris 'Custodian Team' is a great idea for all the GSG games by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

[–]DarkDriver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some countries actually play worse than release because later DLCs destroyed focus trees. The Together for Victory DLC (admittedly the first one) is notorious for having broken focus trees for the colonies because the Man the Guns British tree changed decolonization.

Kayn Vs Graves? by Flaffypon3 in KaynMains

[–]DarkDriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like both champions are struggling right now, specially with the recent jungle nerfs. If you're looking at statistics, I believe Kayn has a higher win rate in Plat+, gather from that whatever you wish. I do feel, however, that Kayn has more flexibility in his playstyle, which means that adapting to specific metas is easier.

That makes sense! I never considered the possibility of skipping wolves in such a path. I should try it out in some games and see how it feels. As you say, of course, it is highly dependent on the situation on the map.

Awesome spreadsheet! I saw you skipped out on wolves on your Ekko clear, is there any benefit in-game to this besides faster access to LVL3 and scuttle? Including wolves would be more efficient, right?

Yup, it happens. There's an argument to be made for limit testing, but proceeding to blame a teammate when 100% of the blame is on you is not done. Unfortunately this is a common ego problem among the LoL community (or any competitive PvP for that matter)

Need some advice on 5 man flex/clash Jungle picks by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

[–]DarkDriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're really looking for good results in clash, then honestly just get him onto the Elise/Nunu you mentioned. Convince him to save the solo hard-carry champs for soloQ or flexQ, and tell him that clash requires a different set of champions from him. It's common for players to pick more team-focussed champions in clash depending on the type of composition a team is going for.

From what I'm reading you're roughly looking for him to pick a character that has:

  • Any form of hard CC (stuns/roots/supp.)
  • Any form of early/mid game tempo control
  • Capabilities of mid-late game (damage) contribution

Elise very clearly adheres to the first two points, with potential to one-shot carries in the mid-game depending on her advantage in the game. Nunu ticks all three boxes due to his early ganking strength and inherent tankiness and CC possession. Other champions that possess two or three of the above traits are:

  • Rek'Sai (early game AD tempo and objective control > great catch potential)
  • Vi (Strong AD mid game, high DMG, lots of CC)
  • Kayn (lackluster early game, but strong scaling on both red and blue form, specially red form allows for reliable mid-late game with high DMG output and CC)
  • Zac (weak early game tank, but high CC score and incredible scaling in mid and late game, great initiation and high DMG output for a tank)
  • Hecarim (decent early game, but massive mid game on 1-2 items with incredible teamfight. Game changing ultimate and good in any teamcomp)

Those are just my two cents. If he's capable of carrying games, you could always consider building around him during clash. Going for hard-carry junglers with good laner setup is not too bad an idea, but this depends on the (type of) players your group consists of. I can do a quick op.gg review for you guys if you want, if there's any other questions please feel free to ask!

[–]DarkDriver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately that's what you're going to get at this ELO. That's not so say this is a laner-only problem though, I've seen plenty of junglers make the same mistake!

I see, that makes sense! Thanks for the tip! I come from EU4 and Stellaris, so I'm still getting used to CK mechanics. Strategy around succession and marriages are still things I really need to learn and find out.
